Jimena de La Frontera built on a hill topped by a Romano-Moorish castle is in the foothills of the Ronda mountains midway between Gibraltar and Ronda. Malaga airport is two hours away and Gibraltar one hour. The house overlooks the beautiful Hozgarganta river and the famous Alcornocales park.

Notes: Downstairs are two twin bedrooms each with its own colourful bathroom, a small study-bedroom which opens onto the patio, a utility room and the hall with a separate WC. On the first floor the open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room with open fire gives onto the wide terrace with views over the mountains. The house is provided with electric radiators, gas fires and electric fans.

Jimena is well stocked with food shops, good tapas bars and restaurants. It has an excellent fully staffed Health Centre. Its many musical events include an International Music Festival in July. The coast is half an hour distant, Gibraltar airport one hour and Malaga two hours. It is within easy reach of many famous historic towns such as Seville, Cordoba and Granada.

The whole area is one of outstanding natural beauty. Jimena is on the edge of the Alcornocales Natural Park Nature reserve. It is a particularly good area for wild flowers in Spring and for birds.

Other Activities: Birdwatching, painting, botanising,visiting sites of archaeological, historic and architectural interest

We stayed in this beautiful, quaint village house in April 2009 and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. We have family who live in the village, who we usually stay with, but this time we wanted to have our own little place and we couldn't have picked a better one.
The kitchen and living area are upstairs, very clean and comfortable. We had a few barbeques on the upstairs terrace which had fantastic views of the mountains.
The bedrooms are downstairs and spotlessly clean with extra towels and bed covers if needed.
Through a little cobbled courtyard was the pool and as we hit upon a very hot week we spent most afternoons sitting reading and relaxing by the pool which again had terrific views.
The house has everything you could possibly want or need including maps and lots of information about the village and surrounding areas.
We went for a few walks down by the river, which is so peaceful, I would recommend it. The fact that we could not speak any Spanish did not matter as we found everyone in the bars and restaurents very friendly and helpful.
We got exactly what we wanted, lovely accommodation and a chill out week. Not one complaint. In fact we are already looking for flights to go back again!
