Albayt Resort apartment in Estepona - August 2011
Review Submitted: September 3, 2011
Date of Stay: August 2011
The apartment we rented for 8 nights in August 2011 was very clean and well maintained. On arrival we noticed a few burnt out bulbs and a very loose kitchen faucet which were all resolved within the day that we notified Tom. The resort grounds and swimming pools are also very clean and there is an added bonus of having a tapas resto-bar (Akua's) right alongside the pool to satisfy your hunger or thirst after a busy day sightseeing or just hanging out at the local beaches or the pool.
For those thinking of doing laundry and hanging their clothes to dry, we discovered that putting the clothes rack in the yard did not get the clothes dry very fast due to the humidity in the air. In fact we discovered that by bringing the rack back into the little utility area where the mops, etc are, the clothes dried in no time due to the hot air being blown out by the thermopump unit + they are protected in case there is ever any rain !
I can recommend that perhaps the mattresses and pillows be changed for some that are more comfortable. The existing ones are okay but are not for those accustomed to a softer mattress with fluffier pillows.
I think something which would be very convenient for potential renters would be if along with the usual bath towels there were one or two beach towels supplied. We travelled from Canada and were not about to load our luggage with beach towels and found this to be strange considering the apartment is part of a resort complex.
La Casona restaurant down the street from the apartment has a great terrace and great food and is all reasonably priced. Also there are many great restaurants near the Duquesa marina and the atmosphere on any given summer's night is quite lively. Many other good restaurants also in Estepona town itself.
Mercadona is a mid-sized grocery store with fresh fruits and veggies and everything else you could need during your stay and is also only a stone's throw on the main road from the apartment.
Del Cristo beach was very heavily populated especially with families but the water is fairly safe. We preferred Duquesa beach with nice waves.
Overall, we were very pleased with the apartment, the cleanliness and the quality of the service and helpfulness of the owner, Tom. On subsequent return vacations to Spain in the same area, we would definitely consider renting it again. For those with a vehicle, it makes for a great home base to do day trips to Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Jerez, Gibraltar, etc.

Owner's Response: I very much appreciate this very positive review from Sherrie and am delighted to read that she was very pleased with the apartment and "wolud definately consider renting it again". I'm very pleased also with Sherrie's Excellent (5 Star) overall rating which speaks for itself.
I have noted and value Sherrie's helpful suggestions and recommendations about the bed mattresses/ pillows and the provision of beach towels as a useful option for guests. In response to her feedback, all future guests will be given the option of stating their preferences in relation to the provision of beach towels and the type of mattresss and pillows they would prefer.
Costumer service and responding promptly to suggestions on how to improve the holiday experience of my guests are the cornerstones of my business.
Tom.
