Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus is located just west of Marbella, before you reach the small town of San Pedro de Alcantara. This is the place to be pampered yachtside and ogle those fabulous luxury yachts while sipping a drink at one of the many open air restaurants and bars. The setting is close to ideal, with its impressive mountain backdrop and ocean views. Since its inception some forty years ago, the port has steadily grown and now features a casino, commercial shopping centre, a Corte Ingles department store, marine observatory and a multi cinema with films shown with their original soundtrack.

Nightlife

Nightlife buzzes at Puerto Banus with your choice of alfresco bars, piano clubs and discos while during the day this is a window shopper´s dream with several of the world renowned fashions houses featured here, in addition to small, interesting shops and boutiques. If you really want to have a bird´s eye view of the port´s magnificent position, then regular boat trips are the ideal solution and available on a regular basis from the central promenade.The beach adjacent to Puerto Banus holds a European blue flag.

Eating out

There are many restaurants within walking distance so lots of drinking and no driving. Begin with breakfast and the newspaper at the cafes in Centro Plaza. Lunch at the Pasta cafe just outside the garden on our side of the complex then in the evening 'Yanx' the American restaurant at Centro Plaza. It's easy to find and a good introduction until you get your bearings. It's popular especially with the children and preferable to 'Jacks' in the Port. Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Swedish, German are all available in the immediate area. The restaurants in the nearest Spanish town 'La Campana' (Italian, Indian, Spanish) are cheap and cheerful but good value. If you are a real foodie it's worth a trip to Benahavis to the 'gourmet village of the Costa del Sol'.

Golf Information:

The course's lush and varied vegetation includes a large number of trees, making it very beautiful indeed. One of the holes where most attention has to be paid is the par-five 1st, which has a pronounced dog-leg to the left. To approach the green, protected by bunkers, one has to play to the right. the par-five 10th, surrounded by water hazards, is also exciting. The course is narrow and , as mentioned before, full of trees. A number of its holes incorporate complicated water hazards, and three of its par-threes are too long for the average amateur golfer to reach their greens in one. Most of the fairways are up hill and two of them very awkward indeed. Golf - Aldea Blanca is a short drive away from the following courses and there are many others Aloha , approx. 50-74 euro. Los Naranjos, approx. 50-74 euro. La Quinta, approx. 50-74 euro. Marbella, approx. 75-99 euro. A longer drive for a special treat - Valderrama, approx.200+ euro.
