Shopping and Eating Out :
The shopping area of 'La Canada' just off the coastal motorway outside Marbella is a must for shoppers with many clothes, shoe, gift, food and luxury goods shops. In Puerto Banus the famous El Corte Inglese department store is located - again well worth a visit. For local food shopping, nearby Calahonda and Elviria are the places to go. Fuengirola has a good selection of shops and there are many typical Spanish markets held in the area. The area is spoilt for good restaurants catering for all tastes. Within the port area of Cabopino there are some excellent restaurants including Alberts, Harbour Lights, La Dispensa plus an Italian and Chinese. Next to Cabopino camping is the excellent Bruno's restaurant and a little further on an Indian restaurant. Further afield, Marbella old town has some lovely quaint eating establishments and the famous Puerto Banus area is also serviced by many top class restaurants. Exploring inland a little will uncover many other excellent restaurants.
Golf:
The Costa del Sol or as it is often known the Costa del Golf is a golfers dream with more than 30 golf courses to choose from, all of which are easily reached from our apartment. All clubs speak English and tee times can easily be booked in advance. The apartment is located adjacent to the Cabopino Golf Club with the golf academy and driving range just 500 yards away. This 5,170 metre long course offers spectacular views of both sea and mountains. Designed by Juan Ligues Creves, the signature hole (3) is an interesting par 4 with a tee box cut into the cliff face and the fairway almost directly below. High handicappers will have to use every club in their bag and low handicappers will have to take risks if they want good results. The club house has a bar and restaurant with sea views and a pitch and putt area. Lessons can be booked and buggies are available.
Beaches:
Cabopino's coast line is a protected area of designated natural beauty so you will find large areas of untouched rolling sand dunes and pine trees. There are several beaches catering for a variety of tastes. Close to the port area there are serviced beach areas with sun beds and umbrellas available at a small daily charge. Further along the coastline there are untouched natural beaches leading to a naturist beach served by the famous 'Las Dunas' beach bar. Ideally suited for families and children the beaches are close to some excellent ‘Chiringitos’ (beachside bars and restaurants) which are renowned for their excellent quality. It is possible to drive to all the beach areas but some areas have a small parking charge. Walks along the beach and the dunes are a must in the cool of the early morning or evening, on clear days it is quite possible to see Gibraltar and the North African coastline. It really is quite a contrast from the hustle and bustle of other resorts.
