The closest beach is just 5 minutes from a self catering villa in El Rosario, and from there, you have the choice of 26km worth of beach on which to find the perfect spot! Despite its proximity to the famous beaches of the Costa del Sol (Malaga), there are no crowds to contend with in the El Rosario area, which is a remarkable breath of fresh air. The La Alameda Promenade along the Marbella stretch of the beach is filled with excellent restaurants, good value (and surprisingly good) eateries and water sports centres, especially sailing.

Away from the beaches of the Costa del Sol, the Sierra de Ronda Mountains offer plenty of leisure activities. Hiking and mountain biking trips to the mountains are always hugely enjoyable experiences, whether you are taking a leisurely walk to find the perfect view point over the coast or looking for an adrenaline inducing run back down to sea level, there are trails and paths to suit. Para-gliding and horse riding holidays also thrive in the Sierra de Ronda.

There are numerous golf clubs in the Marbella area. All along the coast are beautifully landscaped golf courses, many of which have been designed by ex-pros, posing some serious challenges for even the best golfer. As long as you pack your handicap certificate when you are packing for your El Rosario villa you will be able to arrange enough tee-off times to keep you occupied for your whole El Rosario holiday.

In the evenings, Marbella has something for everyone, and can easily and cheaply be reached from a villa in El Rosario by taxi. There are numerous bars and clubs playing live music of many styles, from cabaret to dance. If you are feeling lucky during your El Rosario holiday, there is even a large casino.

When staying in an El Rosario villa you will almost certainly visit Marbella Town at least once. The famous resort town is split into two parts; the beautiful old town and the energetic, activity fuelled new town. The old town is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, home to some beautiful buildings and delightfully quaint open squares. The newer part of town is where many of Marbella’s more famous bars and leisure facilities along the strip along the back of the beach.

During the summer months, the proximity of the beaches are priceless as temperatures can hit 40˚C during the heat of the day. In winter, an El Rosario villa seamlessly changes into a golf villa, as temperatures dip to a perfect temperature for golf, remaining between 15˚C and 22˚C.

Flights to El Rosario, Spain

An El Rosario villa is situated equidistant from Gibraltar (GIB) and Malaga (AGP) Airport. Although a villa in El Rosario is easily reached from either, you are more likely to find a good deal on a flight to El Rosario through Malaga Airport which receives flights from a large number of ‘no frills’ airlines as well as British Airways.
