This excellent townhouse villa is located just 150m from Nerja's best beach, Burriana. It's very large terrace commands views of both the sea and the mountains which majestically surround Nerja. The location is perfect for a family holiday. The house is comfortably furnished throughout with a light and airy feel, blackout sun-shutters to the bedroom windows and ceiling fans. The scenic walk to the Balcon d'Europa in the picturesque centre of Nerja takes 10 minutes through the pretty, narrow streets of whitewashed houses.The beach is just 2 minutes walk away with its shops and many open-air restaurants.

Nerja is situated on the coast in the Andalucian area of southern Spain, 45 minutes east of Malaga. Nerja has a considerable tourist population, but the original Andalucian town of 15,000 retains its traditional character. Fishermen still bring in their morning catch down on the beach. Architecture is a mixture of Andalucian and Moorish styles. Surrounded by the coastal mountains which rise picturesquely up from the sea , it cannot be compared to the high-rise vacation development elsewhere.

ABOUT NERJA: Nerja is unspoilt by high-rise holiday development and retains its unique Andalusian character. All new constructions have been adapted to the traditional Andalusian style of whitewashed houses, windows with grilles, roof with two slopes, etc. Nerja is not just a summer resort; it retains its unique charm all year round claiming the best climate in Europe. This is in part due to the surrounding Almijara mountains with its pine-clad slopes which shelter the resort and provide stunning views and ideal countryside for walkers. Nerja boasts many small coves reached by walking the Paseo de los Carabineros from Burriana to the Balcón.

LOCAL EXCURSIONS: The Nerja Caves are well worth visiting. A fascinating, extensive network of underground caverns, complete with auditorium and stage where the annual music and arts festival takes place. Nearby is Maro, a picturesque village with panoramic views across the sea and a small secluded beach, invisible from the cliff top. The mountains shelter many small attractive villages, notably Frigiliana with its restored Roman town and narrow vehicle-free cobbled streets. Further afield is the historic city of Granada and its famous Alhambra Palace. Malaga with its ancient cathedral, beautiful old town and fabulous galleries also provide a great day out. There are many tours and excursions provided by our agents which include sailing days, walking tours, canoeing trips, quadbiking days in the mountains surrounding Nerja. Planes, Trains and Automobiles: Málaga airport to Nerja by car takes approx. 40 mins (50 Kms from Málaga).Granada is approximately 1hour and 30mins from Nerja and our agent provides transfers from both Granada and Malaga airports. Please check for current prices. Taxis are easily available at the airport or you can take a bus from Malaga. There is an excellent bus service between Nerja and all major towns and villages including Granada and Malaga.

Ski: Nerja is 1.5 hours from the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Granada.

Golf: There nearest golf course is 15 minutes drive away in Velez Malaga.

Whilst the apartment is actually quite nice, we were disappointed with the description that it is a semi detached villa in a quiet residential area.
It is an apartment in a building of 8 with adjoining neighbours above (partially), below (partially) and to one side. Our impression that we might be sharing a pool with one other villa was not the case, as it is shared amongst many. Certainly more than 10 apartments.
At the time of our stay (August 2009) a Flamenco Bar less than 70 metres from the apartment was playing live Flamenco music and had live dancing from around 7.30pm to 11.30 pm 6 nights a week which even with all the doors and windows shut was loud enough to have the lights on our baby monitor merrily flashing to their maximum as each whoop, clap or stamp of feet pervaded the apartment.
If you plan to go out every night and you are happy with an apartment and shared pool, then it is a worthwhile place to go, but in our opinion not suitable for children who want to be in bed by 8 or 9pm.
The owner was very helpful before we went and found us some childcare for the daytime. The apartment was generally clean. The location is excellent for Burriana and only a 15 minute walk to the Balcon. Nerja is a great place.

Just the job

Chose this as a last minute break to get away from the rain in the UK, and found a gem!
Great location, plenty of space and well equiped.Clean and well maintained. Good for the beach, shops nearby for the essentials, and only a short and pleasant stroll into the town centre. Great patio, private and ideal for sunbathing with sun from first thing in the morning until well after 5pm, and that's mid September!
However, definately not suitable for those physically disabled who would have trouble with stairs.
Well organised by the owner who was very accomodating.
Would certainly look to visit again.

Where to go to relax and unwind in comfort.

Having spent two weeks in this great property with my family I can only say try it, the accomodation is spacious and airy with everything required to make it a home from home. The property is well maintained and spotlessly clean on arrival. Although the internal area of this property is everything you would require the biggest bonus of this property has to be the large balcony - it has wonderful views of the mountains and a slight view of the sea, there is enough space for children to play in safety and a raised area with table and chairs where you can relax with your glass of Rioja. Another benefit of this great property is that the pool albeit shared (3 minutes walk away) was very well maintained with a nice surrounding area to sit and watch the children play, after a day on the beach it was a great way to cool down. This was our 6th Nerja holiday and the most enjoyable one to date, the situation of this apartment couldn't have been better, handy for the beach (5 minute walk), the nearest supermarket is near the beach and has a good range of everyday products available, it is a little more expensive than the Supersols but it was great to be able to pick up essentials on the way back from the beach. If you are travelling with children the beach closest to the apartment, the Burriana, is clean and well supplied with sunbeds and brollies, (there is a great assortment of beach toys for the children in the apartment),beach showers, the toilets are clean and at regular intervals along the promenade (keep a toilet roll in your beach bag as invariably the ones supplied don't tend to last the day and are a bit reminiscent of school days!) The beach is backed by excellent restaurants where they are happy for you to just sit with a beer no matter what the time of day, or enjoy a relaxing lunch, the waiters all speak a modicum of English and are very patient with children, not seeming to worry when my grandchildren decided to make sandpies in the sand floors of the restaurants whilst we finished eating, what more could you ask for? I could go on for ever in praise of Nerja and its people but best that you try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. The owners of this property will do everthing in their power to make it easy for you to arrange your own holiday, transfer buses, welcome pack - great for late arrivals, and above all a great place to stay for all the family, go on, enjoy!
