Casa Dani

I have stayed in several villas in Nerja, and have always found the standard to be high. This villa fell fshort of my expectations. The 2 upstairs bedrooms were bright and airy and well furnished. The bathroom was spacious. The livingroom was stuck somewhere in the 70's with a couch that looked as if it had been there since then, the WC on this floor was handy, and the kitcen was OK, if a bit on the small side for a 4 bedroom villa. The toaster in there was a bit of an electric shock waiting to happen, but it was changed promptly when this was pointed out - it should have been noted at the changeover clean. However, it was replaced like for like, obviously bought by someone who has never tried making toast in the morning for 5 people in a 2 slice toaster!!!
The downstairs rooms were not great, and smelled of damp.
The outside space was the saving grace for this villa, good sunshine from early morning until early evening. However, again, the furnishings were disappointing. We had paid a lot of money for a fortnights rental, and were provided with a patio table that had rough/rustly edges which caught clothing, and cheap plastic chairs that are bought in a pound shop. In the past we have been provided with either uPVC or wooden recliner chairs with high backs, needed for relaxing on holiday. The umbrellas were also done on the cheap as well. And as for the BBQ, it was a joke, we wouldn't even have taken that for a day at the beach. It was a kettle BBQ, diameter about 14", again not adequate in a villa which can hold 8 people. It was about 25" of the ground, so the cook ended up with backache!
Having said all this, we still had a great holiday, we love Nerja, and all of these problems were surmountable. The location is great, except for if you get loud neighbours who want to sit up til all hours as we did! Well done the scotish woman who gave them a mouthful after we'd all had a bellyfull!!!
I appreciate the raised area outside is possibly used for a car, however, it would be ideal to have this area covered with rush matting to provide a covered area for eating with a big table up there, moving the table from it's current position over the drain! It is a very exposed spot and some respite from the sun would be welcome
If I were to return to Casa Dani, I would be expecting the current standards at a reduced price. Or if the price is to remain the same, a lot of updrading has to be done.
