  • Rates quoted are for two bedrooms. Third bedroom is available at an optional extra of £75 per week (£100 from March 14 to March 28 and June 21 to September 6 and Christmas and New Year).
    Special rates for long term lets in low season November - April. Contact owners for more information.
  • Deposit of one third of total rental to be paid within seven days to secure booking. Balance to be paid eight weeks prior to holiday along with a security deposit of £100 to cover any damage, breakages or repainting, which is refundable after departure. Electricity is payable at a metered rate on departure (averaging between £10 to £15 a week).
  • We can arrange for excellent rates with a car hire company who will personally meet you at Malaga Airport, often saving a lengthy wait for a vehicle.

Walkers' paradise: The area is a paradise for walkers and those wanting a peaceful holiday away from the stereo-type Spanish holiday resorts. The historic village of Maro, with the Caves of Nerja, and the enchanting resort of Nerja are both only 2 kms away and are easily accessible by car or on foot. A regular bus service into the town stops at the entrance to the car park. Many local fiestas take place each year which typify the rural life in this part of Andalucia and in the month of July the Caves of Nerja provide a magnificent backdrop for the annual Festival which has, over the years, attracted such celebrities as Yehudi Menuhin, Jose Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Nerja is just one hour from Granada, two hours to Ronda, Marbella and Gibraltar and three hours from Seville and Cordoba. Throughout the year local travel companies have weekly trips to all these destinations if you do not want to drive. The nearest golf course is just 20 minutes' drive.

A lovely villa in a fantastic location

My family have been holidaying in Nerja for the last 5 years. Our holiday in August 2008 at Casa Mariposa was possibly the best yet. The villa is conveniently located for the town and beaches yet far enough from the centre of Nerja to be secluded and quiet. You can even park your car close to the villa in the height of the Summer without any problems, very handy when you've just been to the supermarket to stock up and have to carry all the shopping in.
The pool at the Jardines de Nerja complex is wonderful, a very good size for the number of people using it with the separate smaller pool for the little ones as well. Personally, I am much happier being by a lovely pool than down on the beach, as are my children so this year the setting was just perfect for us.
Casa Mariposa was furnished and equipped to a very high standard with the satellite TV and air conditioning in the lounge much appreciated.
We look forward to returning to the villa again another time.
Thankyou to the owners Preben and Hilary for a lovely clean and comfortable villa. We would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation.

A perfect place to stay

We stayed at Casa Mariposa in September 2009 and were delighted with this light and airy villa. It was well equipped, very clean and spacious and more than large enough for five adults and a toddler. We enjoyed several barbeques on the terrace - sampling the local sausages and fish.

The pool area and gardens were excellent and we spent many relaxing hours there reading and enjoying the sun. Our grandson had great fun in the baby pool, playing with the other children.

We hired two cars which we found found invaluable in getting down to the beach (with all the baggage required for a two year old!), but there is an hourly bus service at the end of the road.

Nerja is a lovely place to visit; the beach restaurants are excellent for lunch and the town comes alive at night especially on the Balcon where there are artists, entertainers and dancers.

One useful tip for shoppers, the Supersol supermarket is quite expensive and we suggest you search out the Mercadona supermarket in town. It is considerably cheaper and used by the locals.

Finally, many thanks to Preben and Hilary for their invaluable assistance and prompt replies when we were planning our holiday.

We highly recommend this villa and will certainly return again one day.

Our stay in Casa Mariposa

We stayed for a 4 week spell and had a wonderful time. The house was very clean and contained plenty of the useful items needed for a family stay (kitchen/cleaning). The side access to the house meant that when returning from beach or pool the gang could go around the house and take off wet clothes before going into the house - simple things like this made a big difference. Also a brilliant BBQ and terrace for when you don't fancy going out - loads of space here. Even had Sky sports for Rugby (if thats important!).
The gardens and pool area are fabulous. While a bit out of town, this suited us as the surrounding areas are very peaceful. Nerja access is very easy via a pleasant walk (although you would need a taxi home). Eating and drinking in Nerja was excellent, go off the beaten path and find the tapas bars where locals eat. Very welcoming. Also Burriana beach - great for family meals with young kids as there are play areas and so on which allow for the parents to kick back a bit.
The owner was very helpful in giving directions, hints and recommendations as where his local agents.
Although we did very little travel around we did find plenty of interesting things to do close by. The region has some stunning beaches within 15km where you could dive and snorkel the day in very clear waters.

An ideal holiday!

Our friends visited Jardines last year and warmly recommended this villa, and we are very pleased that we follow their advice. We had a fantastic week in Nerja, the villa is large and light with great views, and we loved the beautiful gardens and the swimming-pools where our children spent most of their holiday. We'll definitely be back!

Property was fantastic. Very clean and well appointed. We particularly enjoyed the roof terrace whilst our son was sleeping!

Would go back tomorrow if that were possible.

A nice secure and quiet spot perfect for a family.
