Nerja
A popular resort, readily accessible from Malaga and its international airport, with motorway access to within a mile of the town centre. Nestling in the foothills of the mountains, the old town, with its narrow, vehicle restricted, cobbled streets, and offers a more relaxed holiday from that found in the big resorts further along the coast. With small picturesque bays, the famous 'Balcon de Europa' promenade, numerous small shops, bars and restaurants, and its wonderful all year round climate, Nerja has something for all seasons, especially for families and the more mature holidaymaker.
Local Excursions
The Nerja Caves, one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions, are well worth a visit. A extensive network of fascinating underground caverns with the World's biggest stalactites, plus an auditorium and stage where the annual music and arts festival takes place. Nearby is Maro, a picturesque village with panoramic views across the sea and a small-secluded beach, invisible from the cliff top. The mountains shelter many small attractive villages, notably Frigiliana with its restored Roman town and narrow vehicle-free cobbled streets and the 'lost' hamlet of Acebuchal, originally abandoned in 1948. Further afield is the historic city of Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace (pre-booking advised), or perhaps a trip to Malaga and the new Picasso Museum. Marbella and Puerto Banus also provide a great day out, as do visits to Mijas, Antequera and the El Torcal National Park. For winter visitors, the 'Sierra Nevada' ski resort, near Granada, is about two hours drive away.
Getting There
'Easyjet' fly from Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Belfast; 'BMIBaby' from Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff and Birmingham; 'Flybe' from Southampton, Exeter and Birmingham; 'Jet2' from Leeds/Bradford and Manchester, and 'Thomsonfly' from sixteen UK regional airports. For those in Scotland, 'Globespan' fly from Edinburgh and Glasgow. 'Easyjet' now fly to Cork, Knock and Shannon for an Irish Republic link to Malaga via Gatwick. For transport to and from Malaga Airport, our local Agent can book a taxi, MPV or minibus (most with air conditioning). We can also recommend a car hire company we regularly use at Malaga Airport. If flights to Malaga are unsuitable for any reason, Ryanair fly to Granada and Easyjet fly to Almeria.
Other Activities 'Baviera' golf course is about 15 minutes away near Velez Malaga.

A Villa Home From Home (with added sun)
Darren C, Bournemouth
Review Submitted: June 04, 2008, Date of stay: May, 2008
An excellent villa in an excellent location, far enough from the main area to be quiet and relaxing yet close enough to all the amenities. The villa was clean and tidy and equipped with everything we needed. The owner is prompt and professional with contact and customer service and provides excellent directions and information regarding the villa and local restaurants.
The villa and terrace area is large enough for 6+ people and you can still find space to be on your own, you can get the sun from morning to sunset.
The pictures of the sea views do not do the villa justice as they are better in real life. We made good use of the terrace and BBQ and made the easy ten minute walk to the beach with has lots of restaurants, with enough variety of food to keep everyone happy.
I would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family and will come back to stay again.
Owner's response:
The villa is always popular, with over 30% of our 2008 bookings being repeat guests from earlier years. We're pleased to say this trend continues next year, with bookings already into May and June 2009. We also look forward to seeing new guests in the future, Nerja is still excellent value for money in spite of the poor old pound!
