How to get there:
There are a wide selection of scheduled and charter services to Malaga from many UK airports. From the North-West/Midlands, options include Easyjet (Liverpool and East Midlands), bmi Baby (Manchester and East Midlands), Monarch, Jet2, Excel Airways and others. Most of the familiar tour operators’ airlines have weekly charters to Malaga, including MyTravel, Air 2000, Monarch, etc. There are many web sites, which will search for the cheapest flight options available, please ask us for link. The flight time is about two and three-quarter hours.
Having arrived at Malaga there are basically two easy choices: taxi or car hire. The adventurous or those on a tight budget can save money by taking a bus or train to Fuengirola and then a taxi onwards to the apartment. However, with the taxi fare being about 40 Euros from the airport, and car hire being relatively cheap it hardly seems worth the hardship.
Where to go:
There are some great places to visit in Andalucia. Ideally, these should be done by car but it is possible to travel around by bus, which is pretty cheap, and stops right outside the apartment. Taxis are still a relatively cheap alternative but always ask the price before you get in.
There is an excellent, long sandy beach at nearby Cabopino. : head West (towards Marbella) on N340 for one kilometre to km 195 and take signs for Cabopino. Go over N340 and follow road down, forking to right and then through a small underpass into an attractive harbour – park around there and keep harbour on your left. Beach is ahead and to right past a couple of restaurants (El Puerto and La Lonja). There are beach bars and umbrellas for those that want and then a mile or two of beach backed by sand dunes.
Visit Cordoba, Granada, Seville, Gibraltar, Marbella, Puerto Banus and Ronda.
For the kids and locally:
Mijas water park at Fuengirola, just off the N340, Fuengirola Zoo, the cable car and Sealife Centre at Benalmadena (between Fuengirola and Malaga) on the Explanada, Tivoli and the Selwo Aventura Safari Park (Estepona)
Within walking distance is Cabopino: just turn right along the beach and walk (c.15 minutes). Cabapino has some excellent restaurants and bars. Try Alberts by the marina for a special meal. There is also an excellent fish restaurant at the end of the Harbour, El Puerto. La Despensa is also very good value for pizzas and pasta. In the square at Cabopino Los Javieres serves traditional tapas.
At Los Cipreses, opposite the apartment block, is a Chinese on the first floor (excellent food and very cheap), a café/pizza restaurant and a bar in the square. The nearest other restaurant in walking distance is Irvings.
There are two Supersol supermarkets over the road in the Los Cipreses precinct and there is also a LIDL but this is perhaps a little more basic, but cheap
