The apartment is on the south side of Cortes de la Frontera with fantastic views over the mountains towards the Mediterranean. It has a large terrace with a sun canopy with a outside dining area. Inside it has fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons. Lounge area with sat TV, dining area, 3 good sized bedroom one with a cot. It has central heating so ideal for winter holidays. It has a communal swimming pool for residents only, open from mid June until mid September. The Spanish have many fiestas throughout the year, the main one is in August (feria) with bull runs etc. Walking distance to bars, restaurants and shops. It is ideal for getting a way from it all and just relaxing. You can go horse riding nearby. This part of Spain is very famous for hillwalking and rambling, and if you are a keen bird watcher it is on one of the main migration routes between Europe and Africa.

Cortes de la Frontera is a typical Spanish White Village or Pueblo Blanco and is ideally situated between 2 National Parks, the Sierra de Grazalema and Los Alcornocales and is overlooked by the mountain range of the Serrania de Ronda Mountains. It is ideally located for exploring the Western Andalucia, Ronda (regarded as Hemmingway's favourite town) is only 30 minutes drive away. The hilltop town of Gaucin is a short drive its hilltop location provides stunning views of Gibralter and the coast. The beaches of the Costa del Sol area 45 minute drive away and a little further on you will find the infamous millionaires playgrounds of Puerto Banus and Marbella. The train stops in Estacion de Cortes 5 km away and will take you on to Ronda if you want to leave your car behind. The local architecture is very interesting, the Town Hall dates back to 1784 and is built in a neo-classical style, the bull ring was originally built in 1894 and restored in 1921.

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in your apartment. The location is beautiful, we made good use of your terrace and the swimming pool and found everything we needed in the very spacious apartment. Your caretaker was very helpful, even when we arrived at 1.30 in the morning and the neighbours were all very friendly. The weather was wonderful, which is what we needed after all the rain and grey skies here, our only regret is that it was too hot at this time of the year to get out and walk much in the hills around Cortes. Instead we managed to slow down to the Spanish pace of life, enjoyed driving around the national parks and the hill top villages and sampling the very reasonable local tapas and wine.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
