The apartment is set in a small and secure complex of 12 apartments. It is a modern, spacious and quiet property available to rent now (short or long-term). See our website for more details, please ask for link. Frigiliana is a small town situated in the foothills of the Almijara Sierra mountain range overlooking the Mediterranean coast. It is located approximately 50 kilometres from Malaga (45-50 minutes drive from Malaga airport) and a short ride away from Nerja and the beach. The stunning whitewashed town has in the past been voted the most beautiful in all of Spain and is regularly acclaimed as the prettiest in Andalucia. With many bars, restaurants and shops, Frigiliana provides the ideal setting for a wonderful holiday on the Costa del Sol.

Sea/Beaches: The nearest beaches are those of Nerja and Maro - approximately 8 kilometres away.

Mountains: The property is ideally situated on the edge of Frigiliana old town. There are stunning views across the mountains and down to the sea. A walkers paradise.

Historic: The property is set on the edge of Frigiliana old town. With its cobble-stoned streets, incredible views, friendly people and the odd donkey, the town is full of culture and history.

Golf: The 'Bavaria Golf' course is approximately 13 kilometres away.

We felt at home in the apartment as soon as we walked through the door in early December 2008 - so much so that we stayed till the end of March 2009. Very clean and extremely well equipped, it is such a change in a rented flat to have a REALLY comfortable bed and fantastic relaxing sofas. There is plenty of bedding and towels, but the bonus of this small, well maintained complex in the winter is the fabulous sauna and small heated indoor pool. We took advantage of these daily and had them to ourselves!
Frigiliana is an exceptionally beautiful and very friendly small town, and the surrounding scenery is quite magnificent; it is wonderful walking country and the surroundings are really interesting. We managed quite adequately without a car; the bus service to Nerja and the coast is cheap and reliable. The shops in Frigiliana have everything you could need, and shopping is a very local, Spanish experience, and great fun - so sociable! - and Frigiliana's weekly market is good for local produce. There are too many good restaurants to name and most are open through the winter. It was good to be able to keep in touch with home at the internet shop in the Calle Real.
We would heartily recommend the flat; the owner was amazingly helpful as were the other residents. I would say that for 75 percent of the time the weather was really good, and it was wonderful to enjoy the sun on the balcony, and on the swimming pool terrace where there are fabulous views. As we did such a lot of walking and swimming we found the active lifestyle kept us warm on the cooler days, but the heating in the flat is very efficient when you need it.
We were completely happy and comfortable for almost four months, and really didn't want to leave. What more can we say!

Very "User-Friendly" Apartment

We stayed at this apartment two years ago and I am prompted to write a review now as we are in the process of booking it again.
The apartment is comfortable, conveniently situated and has all the amenities that can reasonably be expected.
The owner is very helpful and the local caretaker who resides nearby is extremely friendly and accommodating. Frigiliana is one of the few remaining places where one can experience the real Spain but still be close to the tourist beaches and entertainment of Nerja, the nearby holiday destination.
Compared with most tourist destinations in Spain, Nerja is still fairly laid-back but it has inevitably become much more cosmopolitan and busier since 30 years ago when it was my favourite holiday destination. In those days, Frigiliana was 100% rural Spain, a whitewashed Andalucian village in the mountains but close enough to pay a visit to from Nerja. Now, by preference, I would stay in Frigiliana and visit Nerja. The increased popularity of Nerja has inevitably spoiled it to some degree whereas it has benefited Frigiliana which remains unspoilt but now has some very fine restaurants and bars and is very, very relaxing. To enjoy the benefits of both Frigiliana and Nerja I thorougly recommend this very "user-friendly" apartment. A car is recommended.
