This is a gated complex with 24 hour security. |
Places within walking distance
Twenty minutes from the apartment is the 18th century fortress of Castillo de La Duquesa, in the middle of what was once a large Roman fishing village. Situated by the sea, there are some quaint bars and popular seafood restaurants and also a small supermarket. There is also a children's play area. A few minutes along a pleasant tree-lined beachfront promenade, you will come to the beautiful port of Duquesa with it's many attractions. The vast choice of eating and drinking options here include French, Italian, Chinese, English and of course Spanish. The other side of the port is Duquesa's neighbour, the fishing village of Sabinillas. This is a few minutes walk along another very pretty promenade. The church is the centre of the village and the town square, surrounded by trees and flowers. There are several shops, banks and large supermarkets. Also there are beachfront cafes, restaurants and children's play area. The well maintained beaches are the highlight of Sabinillas.
Places within 10 minutes drive
Manilva is a charming white village, a few kilometers inland. Although tourists are just beginning to discover the village, it remains intrinsically Spanish. The town has a fascinating history which dates back to Roman times and there are some remarkably well- preserved Roman sulphur baths and an aqueduct. These are well worth a visit. The village has several restaurants, near the baths. There is the well-known Roman Oasis and Restaurante Los Alamos, situated by the Manilva river. There is a stream and small lakes perfect for dipping into and some flat rocks suitable for picnics. There are also amazing views towards the mountains and some interesting footpaths. Grapes consist of a large proportion of village crops producing well-known locally produced sweet wines.
Places more than 10 minutes away
Casares is a 15 minute drive. It is an amazing picture postcard village with a population of just 3000. There is something very special about the sight of Casares that causes the visitor to stop and stare. The village nestles in the mountains, only about 12 km from the coast. The scenery is spectacular all the way to Casares and as you approach the last bend you are treated to a wonderful view of the village with it's medieval fortress. Luckily there is the Restaurant La Terraza and a choice of bars to prepare you for the walk around Casares' hilly streets leading to the village square. Watch for the peregine falcons and kestrels and on a clear day you can see the African coast and the Rock of Gibraltar.
Other Activities sailing, jet-ski., boat hire, knee-boarding

Fantastic apartment with all the mod cons to make it just like home! Especially liked the complementary tea/coffee, milk & water, nice touch and very useful when arriving in the middle of the night and no shops open!
Complex is beautiful, with lovely gardens, clean and well maintained. Ideal for kids, with the small garden for them to play in. Felt safe for kids to play around the complex too, without having to worry about strangers. It's nice and quiet, but within easy access of a supermarket, beach and shops. Being in the hills it's also not too hot. Try Sabinallas for eating out, as it's much cheaper than the port.
The owners were also very helpful with lots of information, and answered my queries quickly with excellent advice for when we got there. We had the best holiday ever. I would definately consider returning.
Owner's response:
We are always delighted to hear that our visitors have enjoyed their holidays in our apartment. We look forward to our own holidays and do our best to make sure that our guests do also.
