Alora holiday villa

My wife and I wanted to try an inland holiday this year and consequently didn't see the sea at all apart from when flying in and out of Malaga. We weren't disappointed as the self-contained and private villa annex was set in large fenced-off grounds with a superb pool of a decent size. The location is great if you want an away-from-it-all holiday but a car is essential. My main worry was that it would be too cool up on the mountainside but it was as hot as anywhere (Early June) and we both picked up our annual tan with no problems. The villa is of good size and would comfortably suit a family of 4 and is reasonably-well equipped - both bedrooms being airconditioned. Electricity and water supplies were robust with no outages. There are lots of Spanish white villages and towns to visit in the vicinity and larger cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba are all attainable in a couple of hours but to be honest we didn't bother as we just wanted to chill out - which we managed. The villa is only 30 minutes from Malaga airport - if you know where you're going - make sure you pin down it's location before you set off. Banks and supermarkets are plentiful in the area as are restaurants and cafes but realistically there are none within walking distance. We tended to eat out during the day and eat in during the evening after spending mosy afternoons in or by the lovely, good-sized pool in the nice gardens of orange and lemon trees. The owner was there to meet us at the start of our holiday and also at the end of it so key handling was no problem. One thing I must mention is the payment mechanism we used which saved us a small fortune in IBAN transfers this year. Also the owner allowed us to use her computer and printer to check-in for our return flight which meant that we were able to go straight through security to Departues and thus saved a good hour or two at the check-in at Malaga. Another benefit was having English TV channels - you can only watch so many bullfights and Spanish soaps!
All in all we were delighted with our holiday as we achieved exactly what we set out to do and would return again.
