30min inland from Malaga airport set in a valley of orange & lemon groves is a delightful 2 bedroom farmhouse, newly renovated & fitted throughout to a very high standard. The roof terrace provides stunning views of Alora castle & the surrounding countryside, & is a great place to eat & drink the night away.The farmhouse has large well kept gardens with many flowers & fruit trees. The 6x4m pool is ideal for swimmers & non swimmers alike, being only 1.7m at its deepest with roman style steps for the paddlers. All of the bedrooms have been fitted with air conditioning, very comfortable beds, with double wardrobes, bedside cabinets & ceiling fans. The living room is beautifully decorated and has a sofa, 2 armchairs, coffee table, TV [BBC, ITV, Ch4, etc]. A fully equipped kitchen with microwave f/freezer, cooker, toaster, kettle, iron, etc. The towns of Alora & Pizarra are just 5min away with shops, restaurants, banks & pubs

Activities: Alora and Pizarra, 5 minutes from the cottage are traditional white Spanish towns providing interesting shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets and banks. The river Guadalhorce runs between Alora and Pizarra and down to Malaga. Alora’s history dates back to prehistoric times, the remains of Phoenician and Roman eras can be found in the Alora fort. Upstream of the Guadalhorce is the Lake District and El Chorro, providing fresh water to enjoy both fishing and swimming. The whole area, which borders the national park, is renowned for its picturesque views and is a haven for walkers, climbers & sightseers alike. There are plenty of golf courses nearby and if you fancy seeing the sea and coast, Fuengirola and Marbella are within easy reach. There is a very good train service from Alora to Malaga and beyond or alternatively the local bus stop is close by. If a relaxing holiday in the beautiful countryside of real Spain is high on your wish list then this is the one for you.

We had a lovely peaceful week in the cottage, wonderful scenery, lovely private cottage, fantastic pool,everything you need for a really relaxing holiday. Freda the owner lives on site and was always on hand for any information we needed but we hardly saw her,she didn't intrude on our holiday at all. Thank you Freda, we will definately be back to recharge our batteries in the future.

Relaxing and rural

Right in the middle of a large number of orange and lemon groves, this is certainly off the beaten track. The description of the property is accurate, a good sized, well furnished cottage with lovely swimming pool and BBQ set in a well tended garden. Not overlooked by neighbours. Although the location is well away from it all and you need a car to get to the nearest facilities, the town of Alora is well connected by road and rail to Malaga and the coast as well as beautiful inland scenery such as El Chorro.

The owner is very helpful and on hand to give any advice or tips, but will leave you to get on with your holiday without interference. She even gave us a nice bag of local produce from the surrounding farms.

Overall, staying here will allow you to really get away from the built up coastline, but not feel isolated from attractions. We have two small children and successfully balanced relaxing days at the cottage, staying round the pool (which we had all to ourselves) with drives to the Natural Parks, seaside, Malaga (surprisingly attractive) and water themepark.

stayed in june09, quiet location,really away from it all, well looked after by the owners who live next door,full of local information and knowledge.
Aircon. and fans in both bedrooms,none in living room.Outdoor dinning under an awning,gets bit hot during the day,but ideal for bfast.Tv has most channels,also a dvd player and cd player/radio in the living room.
Kitchen has everything you would need for a self catering holiday.
highly recommended.

Our First Mountain Holiday in Spain

My wife and I wanted to try an inland holiday this year and consequently didn't see the sea at all apart from when flying in and out of Malaga. We weren't disappointed as the self-contained and private villa annex was set in large fenced-off grounds with a superb pool of a decent size. The location is great if you want an away-from-it-all holiday but a car is essential. My main worry was that it would be too cool up on the mountainside but it was as hot as anywhere (Early June) and we both picked up our annual tan with no problems. The villa is of good size and would comfortably suit a family of 4 and is reasonably-well equipped - both bedrooms being airconditioned. Electricity and water supplies were robust with no outages. There are lots of Spanish white villages and towns to visit in the vicinity and larger cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba are all attainable in a couple of hours but to be honest we didn't bother as we just wanted to chill out - which we managed. The villa is only 30 minutes from Malaga airport - if you know where you're going - make sure you pin down it's location before you set off. Banks and supermarkets are plentiful in the area as are restaurants and cafes but realistically there are none within walking distance. We tended to eat out during the day and eat in during the evening after spending mosy afternoons in or by the lovely, good-sized pool in the nice gardens of orange and lemon trees. The owner was there to meet us at the start of our holiday and also at the end of it so key handling was no problem. One thing I must mention is the payment mechanism we used which saved us a small fortune in IBAN transfers this year. Also the owner allowed us to use her computer and printer to check-in for our return flight which meant that we were able to go straight through security to Departues and thus saved a good hour or two at the check-in at Malaga. Another benefit was having English TV channels - you can only watch so many bullfights and Spanish soaps!
All in all we were delighted with our holiday as we achieved exactly what we set out to do and would return again.
