Alora only 35 mins from Malaga is a thriving multicultural community with French, German, Scandinavian and British. Therefore, many varieties of food, in addition to Spanish, are available. Prices in the bars/restaurants are amazingly reasonable. A large municipal swimming pool is in the centre of the newer part of the village. There is an abundance of small local shops, butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, butchers and small supermarkets, newsagents and general stores etc. Alora celebrates many traditional festivals during the year, the most important being Santa Semana (Easter), Feria Real Romeria de la Virgin de Flores (Annual Summer Fair) and the Festival de Cante Flamenco (Festival of Vibrant Flamenco Music). Alora is a very friendly little place and we hope you will share our enthusiasm and enjoy it as much as we do. The whole area offers wonderful opportunities for relaxing, walking, photography, bird-watching, painting as well as a wider range of more active pursuits.
Alora is ideally situated for climbing, walking, cycling or sightseeing. El Chorro Gorge is an amazing natural phenomenon and natural park about 12 km away. Just beyond the gorge are beautiful lakes with turquoise blue waters, pine forests, uncrowded beaches and good restaurants. Ronda with its amazing gorge, bridge, bullring and excellent shops is only just over 1 hrs drive. Granada and the Alhambra Palace, a must. Less then 2 hours drive to the northeast. On this trip you will witness the awesome sight of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Malaga and the coastal areas are only 30-40 min drive. Gibraltar is also a possible visit for a day-trip.
