Photos and Description of this Coin holiday cottage
1 bedroom plus bed sofa, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4-5

Set in the middle of our Andalusian fruit farm just a short distance from the Costa del Sol, a recently built holiday home with fabulous views over the neighbouring countryside. We’re surrounded by citrus groves (pick your own fruit!) and we’re very close to the bustling town of Coín; shops and restaurants are only a kilometre away. Our pool is yours whenever you want it, and it’s perfect for young children. Contact us for the address of our own website, where you´ll find more photos and more information and comments from previous visitors.

Read what some recent clients wrote in the guest book: 'We've stayed in lots of rental houses but this one of the best. It's so generous: the space, the fittings, the decor, the little touches (a selection of books we would actually want to read!). We came in December...blazing sun, breakfast on the terrace, strolls by the sea, outstanding views. It's sad to go but we'll be back.'

Why choose Casa Romana?: Our holiday home has been purpose built for use by our family and holiday visitors. It is unlike the average country property in that it has marble floors and granite work surfaces, and is furnished to a high standard with many extra touches such as art and sculptures. It is fully equipped for everyday living, and as we live on the premises you can ask us for any help or advice you need. The accommodation includes most of the facilities you would expect at home - UK free to air TV, broadband internet access etc. - with the big plus of a wonderful climate and peaceful surroundings.

Rural peace, with plenty to do: Coín is just half an hour to the coast and Marbella by good roads, and is the perfect centre for enjoying the beauty of the Andalusian culture and countryside. The coast has many great attractions, while near Coín you can enjoy hill and mountain walks, riding, tennis and golf. The lakes and mountains and small white villages make for an easy day out, and Ronda, Granada, Córdoba and Sevilla are all within easy reach.

The surrounding area: Coín is set in the green and fertile valley which is the garden of the Costa del Sol. The views are spectacular, and the region offers the visitor a perspective of the real Spain which is so different from the lifestyle of the coastal strip. Here you can enjoy the best of all worlds; the beaches, water parks and the attractions of the coast, while living in rural peace with no neighbours to wake you in the morning!

An idyllic location

Review Submitted: June 2, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We found Casa Romana to be in an idyllic location, with beautiful views over the Andalusian countryside. The property is set in the owners’ fruit farm; we were able to pick our own fresh oranges every morning, make orange juice in the supplied electric citrus juicer and drink it on the terrace overlooking the orange groves.

The owners were very hospitable, the typed sheets of information about the property and the recommendations on sightseeing, restaurants, local supermarkets and shops were most welcome as was the homemade marmalade and cava.

The property was clean, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well equipped including a dishwasher, a television receiving British terrestrial channels, DVD player, a sound system we could plug our MP3 player into and shelves full of books both fiction and helpful travel, recipe and language books, as well as maps and leaflets on attractions close by and further afield. There was also a free WIFI Broadband connection and we found the laptop we hired from the owners to be very helpful to research sightseeing locations as well as keeping in touch with home. It is also possible to swim in the owner’s pool but we did not use it ourselves.

Although the views from the terrace are rural, the town of Coin is close by (we walked in a couple of times) with a range of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. There are at least 3 excellent restaurants within walking distance in the cool of the evenings; The Bohemia, El Fogon de Antonio and Casa Paco. We can also recommend the Hostal Santa Fe on the far side of Coin.

The location was only about 35 minutes from Malaga Airport and ideal for sightseeing. Trips to Granada (book in advance for the Alhambra!) and Gibraltar were about 2 hours by car and the spectacular drive to Ronda should take less than an hour if you don’t stop to take photos at every opportunity as we did! We also visited Seville, using the new Avant fast railway link direct from Malaga. Also, of course, the many and varied attractions of the Costa del Sol are only about 40 minutes away.

We have since bought our own electric juicer to keep at least a small part of our holiday experience alive!

Owner's Response: The computer's a new offering and Bob and Debbie were the first to use it. Very helpfully they added some new links, and we hope that future visitors will do the same so that we can build the best database in the area of places to go.

A little tired

Review Submitted: May 1, 2012 Date of Stay: April 2012
Philip, the owner, is a perfect gentleman and his hosting skills are excellent. We arrived to a bottle of Cava and homemade marmalade, which was a nice touch. The villa is well equiped but that said, it is now very tired and quite dated. The bed settee is quite uncomfortable to sit on. Whilst you are able to use the owner's pool, we felt that we were intruding into the owner's space as it is in front of their accommodation.. A word of warning - the cats can be a problem, diving into the villa and jumping onto the worktops whilst you are preparing food. A very helpful plus was that we weren't asked to leave the villa early and were able to have a late check out so that we weren't hanging around the airport for our late flight.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback; the time you took is much appreciated. We had been thinking about some updates but these comments have spurred us into action and we are now making some changes to bring things up to date. In particular the bed sofa is being improved and the decor enlivened.

We have two new cats which have come from a rescue centre. They will visit the cottage if encouraged, and many people like to have a cat around so they've mostly been made welcome which accounts for their forwardness. They are very friendly but still rather focused on food! We are currently training them and they are already less pushy - we hope that our visitors will also be firm with them.

Regarding the pool, we appreciate your wish not to intrude on our privacy! The pool is not directly in front of our house and has a separate access from the cottage, so we don't feel intruded on. We don't use the pool or the pool area when visitors are swimming, so there's a fair degree of privacy on both sides.

Again, thanks for the helpful comments and we hope that this response answers your concerns.

Happy recreation in the orchard

Review Submitted: October 29, 2011 Date of Stay: September 2011
This holiday home was so much more, than we expected.
We were met by some exceptionally kind and service minded owners.
They introduced us to this peaceful place with a fantastic view over the orange groves. The access to fresh fruit from the farm was a great experience. The avocados, lemons and figs were ripe during our stay.
The house is more than well equipped. It is decorated and furnished with taste and sense of quality.
So much for relatively few money. We had two great weeks in Villa Romana and will return in a few month.

Casa Romana, Coín, Spain

Review Submitted: July 8, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
The apartment was very clean and very well kitted out with all mod cons. The owners Philip & Kristrina were very helpful hosts. The apartment shares a pool with the main villa but this was never a problem. The pool area is very nice with great views over the surrounding area. The apartment has its own parking area, entrance private sumbathing terrace. Before we left the owners installed an awning in the terrace to give protection from the sun if required.

The local town is about a 20 minute walk to the centre but supermarkets and some restaurants are only a 10 minute walk. We were a little disappointed with the selection of restaurants in the town but if you are willing to drive a little, to say Alhaurín el Grande, you will find plenty. Particular favourites were Santiago and Los Candilos and Marlmonte which are either in Alhaurin or en route.

Over all, if your looking for a quiet location with stunning views and a beautiful apartment where you can pick your own fruit from the trees and owners who are very helpful (and are willing to keep you stocked up with their home made marmalade from their own oranges) this is the property for you. We hope to come back next year. What more can we say?

Great place to spend your vacation!

Review Submitted: May 4, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2010
I would like to thank Kristina and Philip for being such wonderful hosts and letting us stay at their guest house. We all enjoyed our stay so much - getting up in the morning, picking up our own oranges for a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice. Jumping in the pool to cool of and getting around in the beautiful Andalucia! Perfect!!
Great place for a family with a couple of children, we will definitely recommend it to
friends and family!
