Photos and Description of this Coin holiday cottage 1 bedroom plus bed sofa, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4-5

Set in the middle of our Andalusian fruit farm just a short distance from the Costa del Sol, a recently built holiday home with fabulous views over the neighbouring countryside. We’re surrounded by citrus groves (pick your own fruit!) and we’re very close to the bustling town of Coín; shops and restaurants are only a kilometre away. Our pool is yours whenever you want it, and it’s perfect for young children. Contact us for the address of our own website, where you´ll find more photos and more information and comments from previous visitors. Read what some recent clients wrote in the guest book: 'We've stayed in lots of rental houses but this one of the best. It's so generous: the space, the fittings, the decor, the little touches (a selection of books we would actually want to read!). We came in December...blazing sun, breakfast on the terrace, strolls by the sea, outstanding views. It's sad to go but we'll be back.'

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Coin, Spain

Why choose Casa Romana?: Our holiday home has been purpose built for use by our family and holiday visitors. It is unlike the average country property in that it has marble floors and granite work surfaces, and is furnished to a high standard with many extra touches such as art and sculptures. It is fully equipped for everyday living, and as we live on the premises you can ask us for any help or advice you need. The accommodation includes most of the facilities you would expect at home - UK free to air TV, broadband internet access etc. - with the big plus of a wonderful climate and peaceful surroundings.

Rural peace, with plenty to do: Coín is just half an hour to the coast and Marbella by good roads, and is the perfect centre for enjoying the beauty of the Andalusian culture and countryside. The coast has many great attractions, while near Coín you can enjoy hill and mountain walks, riding, tennis and golf. The lakes and mountains and small white villages make for an easy day out, and Ronda, Granada, Córdoba and Sevilla are all within easy reach.

The surrounding area: Coín is set in the green and fertile valley which is the garden of the Costa del Sol. The views are spectacular, and the region offers the visitor a perspective of the real Spain which is so different from the lifestyle of the coastal strip. Here you can enjoy the best of all worlds; the beaches, water parks and the attractions of the coast, while living in rural peace with no neighbours to wake you in the morning!

Other Activities: table tennis in the garden

An idyllic location

Bob&Debbie Leeds
Review Submitted: June 2, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We found Casa Romana to be in an idyllic location, with beautiful views over the Andalusian countryside. The property is set in the owners’ fruit farm; we were able to pick our own fresh oranges every morning, make orange juice in the supplied electric citrus juicer and drink it on the terrace overlooking the orange groves.

The owners were very hospitable, the typed sheets of information about the property and the recommendations on sightseeing, restaurants, local supermarkets and shops were most welcome as was the homemade marmalade and cava.

The property was clean, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well equipped including a dishwasher, a television receiving British terrestrial channels, DVD player, a sound system we could plug our MP3 player into and shelves full of books both fiction and helpful travel, recipe and language books, as well as maps and leaflets on attractions close by and further afield. There was also a free WIFI Broadband connection and we found the laptop we hired from the owners to be very helpful to research sightseeing locations as well as keeping in touch with home. It is also possible to swim in the owner’s pool but we did not use it ourselves.

Although the views from the terrace are rural, the town of Coin is close by (we walked in a couple of times) with a range of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. There are at least 3 excellent restaurants within walking distance in the cool of the evenings; The Bohemia, El Fogon de Antonio and Casa Paco. We can also recommend the Hostal Santa Fe on the far side of Coin.

The location was only about 35 minutes from Malaga Airport and ideal for sightseeing. Trips to Granada (book in advance for the Alhambra!) and Gibraltar were about 2 hours by car and the spectacular drive to Ronda should take less than an hour if you don’t stop to take photos at every opportunity as we did! We also visited Seville, using the new Avant fast railway link direct from Malaga. Also, of course, the many and varied attractions of the Costa del Sol are only about 40 minutes away.

We have since bought our own electric juicer to keep at least a small part of our holiday experience alive!
Owner's Response: The computer's a new offering and Bob and Debbie were the first to use it. Very helpfully they added some new links, and we hope that future visitors will do the same so that we can build the best database in the area of places to go.

We had wonderful time! Thank you!

Tanya&Andrew Ireland, Co Kildare
Review Submitted: October 16, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Thank you for your hospitality! Probably we were not very typical of your guests as we looked to use the accommodation as a home base for our trips around Andalusia and the Costa del Sol, rather than a place where we were to spend a lot of time. We really appreciated that you respected our privacy and independence as that was exactly what we were looking for. We found the accommodation as really good value for us as it has a good location, well equipped and clean. Practically it ticked almost all the boxes. We only might recommend (and this is not like we're complaining!) you to invest in a better internet connection and a more modern TV – the apartment would definitely benefit from it. We also recommend a new knife sharpener.
Owner's Response: We would love to have better internet but sadly we are in a small town and not very near to the exchange. That said, it's adequate if you're not dealing with huge files. We hope that Telefonica will upgrade the exchange soon when we'll definitely contract for more than the 3mb we have currently. The knife sharpener's installed!

Andulusian Retreat

Pat & Finn Dublin
Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We liked the look of your house on the internet and we weren’t disappointed. In fact it exceeded our expectations – a very spacious and well-equipped house.

The cooking facilities, fridge etc were excellent and it’s always nice to have a dishwasher and washing machine on holiday. Having the internet was an extra bonus, as was the music centre and Sky TV.

Fresh oranges and lemons – a great treat to pick your own. Quite a contrast to buying a bag in the supermarket. The avocados were delicious. Enjoyed the complimentary cava, and it was really lovely to have home made marmalade; something we always have at home.

We did a fair amount of cooking on site, drank lots of wine, and otherwise spent most of our time on the terrace which we will miss enormously.

We had been in Andalusia on many occasions previously, so on this visit we stayed local, and enjoyed wandering around the adjacent towns and villages.

We very much enjoyed our meals at the Santa Fe Restaurant and the Churriana Catering School.

Thank you also for your hospitality and kindness when we had to look for a doctor.

We would love to come again.

Casa Romana

SamnAli Lancaster UK
Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
First of all, for a bookworm like me it was great to see such a good selection of reading in the apartment – not just the usual left behind rubbish. I would recommend the following two to read, although you might not get through both in two weeks: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, and Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. These are two of my favourite books so I was pleased to see them.

The books and the general high standard of decoration made the apartment feel like a home from home – there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. As others have said, it was great to heave fresh orange juice every day and the cava and home made jam were very welcome.

The pool was lovely to get into at the end of a long hot day spent sightseeing. We would recommend Mijas for the donkey taxis, the views and the truly awesome number of souvenir shops; Ronda for the views, although the drive is not for the faint hearted (but it’s fun); El Chorro for the lovely cool swimming in a stunning mountain setting (again, the drive is “interesting”); Bounty Beach in Marbella for lying in the sun on comfortable loungers with sun umbrellas, in front of a really lovely bar/restaurant (really good food); and the Alhambra in Granada. For goodness sake don’t fail to see this and don’t fail to get a ticket in advance – if you just turn up in mid-summer you won’t get in. You can book on the web, or use the Coin travel agent in which case you’ll have your tickets when you arrive and cut out all the queuing.

Lovely bolthole away from it all

BenandLiz London
Review Submitted: June 1, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
What a wonderful find! Had a lovely relaxing two weeks, supported by our excellent hosts. We had grand intentions of visiting Ronda and the Alhambra but it was always put off till mañana and, of course, never happened. Dipping in and out of the pool at will was preferable.

We did manage Refugio de Juanar and Mijas which were both worthwhile, and (with help from our hosts) the beautiful Bounty Beach in Marbella with its excellent tapas and sun loungers.

The superbly appointed kitchen, the BBQ, the Pepita Aris cookbook and the fresh local produce from the market kept us at home most evenings. That said, the Alhaurin Golf hotel was a highlight of eating out.

Although aircon in the bedroom at this time of year would be nice, we hope to return soon - the basil and chillis from the garden were lovely but orange season should surely be sampled!
