Casa El Palomar and Casa Cueva are both newly-refurbished, detached, self-catering, holiday rentals, with their own outside terraces and gardens. The interiors have been tastefully decorated using natural stone, terracotta tiles, dark wood and luxury fittings. They are within the grounds, but at different levels, of the owner/occupied main house, on the edge of the village. There are superb 360 deg panoramic views of the countryside and mountains. The stunning location is within easy walking distance of all the amenities in the village, including 4 restaurants serving 'typical cuisine' and 1 Italian. There are also 12-15 bars, many serving tasty homemade tapas. El Burgo is very Spanish and lies between Ronda and Coin, just over an hour's drive from Malaga airport and Marbella. The picturesque 'white' village is situated in an olive-growing region of natural beauty boasting some of the purest air in Europe. It is located right in the heart of the Sierra de Las Nieves National Park.

Casa Cueva has been superbly designed around its beautiful cave entrance, which is set in a lovely olde worlde terracotta paved terrace. The interior of this unique detached casa is also partially set in a cave. Windows have been positioned high to provide a pleasant light airy atmosphere. The ground floor comprises a lovely sitting room/kitchen. It has been furnished with rich-coloured wooden cupboard doors, and a beautiful terracotta tiled floor. It has a high quality sprung sofa bed and two wicker occasional chairs set around a fireplace with wood burning stove. It has Sky TV/DVD/CD/radio and wireless internet connection. The kitchen is equipped with an oven/grill, a cook-on, high speed, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, high speed kettle and dishwasher. Up a few stairs is the mezzanine floor, housing a large bedroom and a superb shower room, equipped with a washing machine. An outside door leads to an upper terrace with washing-line, outside furniture and wonderful views.

El Burgo is a beautiful, totally unspoilt, but self-sufficient, 'white' village set in a natural rural valley in the heart of the Sierra de Las Nieves National Park. The Park is a maze of stunning footpaths and is in a natural reserve of rich bio-diversity, including abundant bird life. The views of the mountains and surrounding countryside is amazing and affords many walking, biking, fishing and horse riding opportunities. The nearest golf course is 25 mins away in the elegant and historical town of Ronda. The village is clean and a pleasure to walk around. It boasts, 2 bakeries, many supermarkets, a butchers, 2 fishmongers, a pharmacy, 2 banks and a BP garage. The beautiful lake region - including the spectacular El Chorro gorge - is 35 mins. Malaga airport and Marbella are just over 1 hr. away and Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Gibraltar are all within a 2 hr drive. El Burgo is a little off the beaten track and remains special and the local people are very friendly and special too

We have just spent the mid 2 weeks of May at Casa Cueva, it was superb.We found it a tranquil place with all facilities as described,clean and very comfortable. The owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful,even providing a map of the village showing the restaurants and shops of various sorts.We were looking for a peaceful and unhurried holiday and this setting was perfect.We shall do our best to return!

My husband and I stayed in Casa Cueva for five nights in September 2006, before travelling to Granada with our daughter and son in law.It was our golden wedding anniversary and I must say we couldn't have wished for a prettier 'hide-a-way'. We loved the cave house which had everything we needed. It was well furnished and beautifully cool thro' the day. There was a wood burning stove if it should be needed during the winter months but the house was so cosy I doubt it would be used much. We had fun exploring the pretty village and finding lots of really enjoyable walks in the surrounding area, then returning 'home' to a glass of wine (or three!) on the upstairs terrace with its wonderful views.
El Burgo is totally unspoilt and very picturesque, yet within easy reach of Ronda, Coin and indeed Malaga should you feel the need to travel further afield. We were made very welcome by Pauline and Arthur and would certainly stay with them again.

CASA CUEVA VILLAGE OF EL BURGO

we decided to rent last summer for a period of 10 days and we found this accomodation in Andaloucia in the village so called el Burgo in the property Casa Cueva rented by Pauline and James. we really enjoyed our stay we were travelling with our 2 children aged 6 and 10 and we had a wonderful time. We first met with the owners very friendly and then the place we were going to stay very clean and unusual exactly what we were looking for. Eventhough Casa Cueva was situated next to the owners's house we felt very free and the place was very quiet. We really enjoy the village as is was situated far away from the tourists and at the same time well situated to go and visit famous places as the white villages but of course i think you need a car if you want to take advantage of the place. We had a brilliant weather during all our stay and i will recommend this place to everyone. there was a small swimming pool where my children really enjoyed themselves i would have preferred if the swimming pool was situated more in the sun rather than in the shade of nice trees but I believe it s only because I love sun and I never get enough of it . I forgot to say that El Burgo is very well accommodated with shops and supermarkets .

An excellent place to stay in El Burgo

We would highly recommend both Casa El Palomar and Casa Cueva as we have visited numerous times and definitely will visit again, and Pauline and Arthur make you feel very welcome. El Burgo, being one of the pueblos blancos is truly Spanish with no traffic jams and no rush hour. All bars, restaurants and supermarkets are within strolling distance. This all makes for a very pleasant break. Being in a National Park, the area has lots of walks and scenic drives.
Only a short drive through the mountains is Ronda, with its bullring and old town which is steeped in history.
