La Cala:
La Cala boasts a Blue Flag Beach Award which means safe and clean and has many water sports and activities to suit every taste. Approximately 3km from La Cala Hills there is a terrific choice of restaurants, bars and shops. The market on Wednesday and Saturday is a must for the bargain hunters.
Mijas: Mijas Pueblo has long been attracting foreign residents attracted by its cobbled streets and quaint, old Spain ambiance. Quaint can only last so long after a place has been discovered and Mijas Pueblo has done a good job of maintaining some of its past in spite of the large influx of daily tourists coming up the mountain to wander its ancient streets. Take a donkey taxi from the central square for a novel way of seeing the town.
Horse Racing at the Hipodromo Mijas: Located just of the N340 heading towards Mijas this is one of the most popular attractions in the coast. An entertaining day our for all the family and equally as entertaining is the floodlit evening events in the summer.

There's plenty entertainment to amuse the kids, parents and the 18-20 brigade alike. Tivoli World amusement park in nearby Arroyo de la Miel has Wild West and flamenco shows and a cable-car ride.
Dolphin Safari

Benalmadena Sea Life
Equally popular are the Selwo Marina Dolphinarium and the Sealife Centre which has the biggest shark collection in Europe. There are water-sports facilities at the yacht club and plenty of golf courses in the vicinity.

Golf:
For a complete golfing day, there is nowhere better than Miraflores Golf. The course is both picturesque and challenging especially for those who enjoy their golf with elevated greens and water, A Golf Academy recognised as the best in Southern Spain, practice range, putting green and mini golf complete the golfing experience. During the last decade, Mijas Golf has become the most popular golf complexes in Europe, known for the outstanding condition of their courses. The two courses Los Olivos (Olives) and Los Lagos (Lakes) are situated in the valley of Mijas. The greens are to USGA specifications and fairways are of 419 Bermuda grass. Both courses pay homage to the architects philosophy - difficult par, easy bogey, with plenty of water and relatively flat. The Club House provides a superb restaurant and dining on the terrace. La Cala has two 18 hole courses. La Cala North (par73) and La Cala South (par71). Santana Golf Course is spectacular to say the least. It is situated in an old avocado farm that has retained all its former flavour. The layout is flat, very well formed with wide fairways and expansive greens. Situated between two rivers, with a creek passing through the course provides the sensation of being in a natural environment. Additional facilities offered by Santana Golf and Country Club are the rental of power caddies, golf carts, buggies and free use of the large driving range. La Cala golf is renown for the famous footballers preferred academy.
