El Corcho Villa is situated 30 mins from Malaga Airport and are in a beautiful, quiet area of Alhaurin el Grande, called Urique, 3kms from the centre of Alhaurin el Grande. A perfect base for a golf holiday however are NOT situated on a golf course. There are several local Spanish bars & restaurants just 1.5kms away, perfect to enjoy a stroll to in the evening. There are many typical white villages to see, ranging from the sleepy village of Tolox to the bustling village of Mijas with its donkeys, souvenir shops and fantastic views across to the coast and Africa (on a clear day). The ancient town of Ronda (1 hr) is built across a gorge and gives some wonderful 'photo' opportunities. Granada (1 hr 45 mins) is a beautiful city with the Alhambra Palace and the nearby ski resort of Sierra Nevada. Malaga (30 mins) with wonderful parks, gardens, the new Picasso Museum. Sevilla (3 hours) with its beautiful architecture, gardens, shops and restaurants. Gibraltar (1 hr 30mins)

| Notes: | The heated pool refers to the Jacuzzi /spa pool only. Pool and Hot tub are for sole use of villa guests. Beautiful BBQ patio area surrounded with plants and fruit trees which is set in the dappled shade of a Cork Oak tree. It has a gas BBQ, table and chairs - enjoy the wonderful views across the valley, next to the BBQ area is the 'Top of the Range' Hot Tub /Jacuzzi. The subtle underwater lighting makes a dip in the hot tub, under the clear sky and stars, a wonderful way to end the day. It can be heated for the winter, cool and refreshing for the summer. This leads, via an iron spiral staircase, to the magnificent roof terrace with 360 degree views. ANDALUCIA TOURIST BOARD REGISTERED
El Corcho is an independently registered holiday home as “Vivienda Rurales” with the Andalucia Tourist Board. Being registered is a legal requirement for renting out holiday homes and we feel this gives our guests the reassurance of our good standards. As there is no star rating, we have used the same standards as are used for the Tourist Board in the UK – our Wharton Lock Apartment in Chester, UK has been awarded a 4 star grading. On starting to rent out holiday home in Spain we were advised to not spend a lot on furnishings – keep it cheap – as most people only come on holiday once to an area! We took a different view and had a hand crafted kitchen, granite worktops, quality wooden furniture and good quality mattresses – not to mention buying a top of the range Hot Tub rather than basic ones. We want you to enjoy your holiday and come back! We have many guests return some up to 5 times.
Horse Riding, Water sports and the coast
There are horse riding stables and riding school for both beginners and the more experienced. Horse treks for 2 hours or more can be arranged to suit your experience. Please contact us if you wish to book a horse riding package. There are many opportunities along the coast to take part in all varieties of watersports. These range from waterskiing, paragliding, sea fishing, jet skiing, snorkelling, pedaloes, even swimming! The beach resorts range from quiet typically Spanish beaches to the bustling resorts of Fuengirola and Torremolinos, the tiny harbour of Cabopino to the lavish harbour of Marbella and the award winning harbour of Benalmadena. Just a 25 minute drive away from the villa there is a choice of 2 waterparks, one in Torremolinos and one in Fuengirola, with rides for all the family to enjoy. The food and drink is reasonably priced however you are permitted to take in picnics to enjoy on the lawns.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Alhaurin el Grande is centrally located between two shooting ranges - The Marbella Gun Club in Monda and The Malaga Gun Club near Alhaurin del Torre, 15kms away. At both clubs there are swimming pools and bar/restaurant facilities, in addition the Marbella Club has a Go Carting Track, Quad Biking Track and Archery .
Other Activities bird watching, painting, clay pidgeon shooting, just relaxing ! !
Skiing Information:
A drive of about two and a half hours brings you to the snow capped mountains of Sierra Nevada, South West of Granada. Here you can hire everything from bobble hat to ski boots and take part in the skiing, snowboarding, sledging or just ride the cable cars and enjoy the views.
Golf Information:
The property is centrally located to enjoy both the many inland golf courses in addition to the numerous coastal courses around Marbella and in the whole Malaga region of Andalucia. **************************The villa is perfect for both golfers and non golfers - non - playing guests can relax in the gardens while you enjoy a sunny round of golf, returning for a relaxing dip in the hot tub to sooth your aching muscles at the end of the day ! ***********************************The various courses suit all standards of golfers from the open parkland of Mijas Golf to the challenging terrains of Alhaurin Golf************************ The closest Golf Course is Alhaurin Golf, just 3kms away, it is an championship 18 hole golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros, there are two par 3 9-hole courses and a driving range in the same complex. Beautifully appointed and comfortably furnished, El Corcho was the perfect family holiday accommodation. Never overlooked and with an unspoilt view, it feels a world away from the busy Costa del Sol but close enough that you can get there in 30 minutes, should you wish. With its beautiful cork trees, the garden and pool have shaded areas as well as sunshine. The pool and jacuzzi are spotlessly clean and provide welcome relief from the heat. If you're hoping to relax in the jacuzzi and you've got kids - forget it! Mine loved the bubbles so much we couldn't get a moment's peace! The roof terrace, though extremely hot by day, enabled us to watch the sun set over the mountains in the late evening and gave a 360 degree view of the whole area. The warmth of the welcome from the owners was perfect: they were on hand to help and happy to do so but do not intrude on their guests.
If you're in the area, Ronda is worth a visit but, unless you love a challenging, roller coaster of a drive, check your route with the owners! Spectacular mountain scenery, undoubtedly, but a white-knuckle drive! Mijas, though clearly pitching itself at tourists, is lovely. Lots of restaurants, bars and little shops filled the day easily and the locals were warm, friendly and cheerfully encouraging of my efforts to speak Spanish, even though most speak reasonable English.
The villa was so lovely that we felt little need to wander far, especially in the evenings. If we went out, one of us would have had to drive (and not drink) but with a gas barbecue and good quality, reasonably priced food (and good, cheap wine!) available in the supermarkets, it was very easy to stay put!
We all loved it (2 adults, 2 teens) and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. We've stayed in lots of villas/gites over the years and this was probably the best. We will struggle to find something as good at the same price! We might have to go back...
