The house is situated high up in the mountain village of Gaucin in the Serrania de Ronda within convenient walking distance of all village facilities. Gaucin looks out towards Gibraltar and Africa beyond and the views from the house are particularly stunning. Ronda is 40 minutes by car and the coast and beaches 30 minutes. The airport at Malaga is 90 minutes away. The train station at El Colmenar is a 15 minute car journey away and trains run towards Algeciras in the South and Ronda and Granada to the North through beautiful countryside. There are numerous golf courses on the coast. The coastal resorts of Marbella, Estapona, Sotogrande etc. are easily reached as is Gibraltar. Tangier in Morocco is easily reached by fast ferry from Algeciras and is a wonderful day trip. Seville and Granada are just over two hours away. The village has a number of small supermarkets and other shops. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants all within a short walk away.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Bookings of two weeks or more will be given a discount.
    A deposit of 30% is payable to secure the booking (only refundable if on cancellation the booking is taken up by another party). Balance of payment is required 6 weeks before the booking starts. Last minute bookings may receive special discount - email for details.
    Christmas/New Year can be booked at a cost of £340 per week. Easter can be booked at a cost of £340 per week. An additional charge of £25 is added if the terrace room is to be made up into a bedroom.
  • During the period October to April the house may be let for shorter periods of minimum 3 nights.
    Longer winter lets can be booked at a cost of £150 per week with a minimum 4 week booking.

Notes:

The staircases are open in the traditional style however child safety gates have been fitted to provide a safe environment for young children. There is a large open fire in the living area which is ideal for warming up the cooler winter evenings. A basket of logs is included in the rental. Each room has wall mounted radiators which again make the house ideal for the winter months. The large outdoor village pool is 5 minutes walk away and is open in the summer months. The village tennis court is open all year round.

Local Activities

Gaucin is a wonderful location for bird watching being on the migratory route from Africa to Europe. There are two horse riding centres close by and organised walks take place regularly leaving from the village. The river running through the valley is ideal for swimming, fishing, diving and generally exploring.

Festivals and Fiestas

A number of festivals take place during the year including the Semana Santa (holy week) processions. The running of the bull on Easter Sunday (a big highlight attracting large crowds). The feria in August has a fairground, music and dancing.

Getting Around

Whilst car hire is recommended for exploring the locality it is not essential as we can organise taxi collection from the airports and local transport for day-trips etc. Once in the village all amenities are within walking distance.
