Beautifully renovated Townhouse upgraded to a very high standard and furnished accordingly. Double and twin bedrooms on ground level with large bathroom. Large open plan living, dining and kitchen area on first floor with two traditional balconies together with large shower room. Spacious terrace room and large terrace on second floor with magnificent uninterrupted views south to the coast and Africa beyond. The terrace room can be used as a further double bedroom if required. There is a large open fire in the living area and radiators in each room making the house ideal all year round.

The house is situated high up in the mountain village of Gaucin in the Serrania de Ronda within convenient walking distance of all village facilities. Gaucin looks out towards Gibraltar and Africa beyond and the views from the house are particularly stunning. Ronda is 40 minutes by car and the coast and beaches 30 minutes. The airport at Malaga is 90 minutes away. The train station at El Colmenar is a 15 minute car journey away and trains run towards Algeciras in the South and Ronda and Granada to the North through beautiful countryside. There are numerous golf courses on the coast. The coastal resorts of Marbella, Estapona, Sotogrande etc. are easily reached as is Gibraltar. Tangier in Morocco is easily reached by fast ferry from Algeciras and is a wonderful day trip. Seville and Granada are just over two hours away. The village has a number of small supermarkets and other shops. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants all within a short walk away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Bookings of two weeks or more will be given a discount.
    A deposit of 30% is payable to secure the booking (only refundable if on cancellation the booking is taken up by another party). Balance of payment is required 6 weeks before the booking starts. Last minute bookings may receive special discount - email for details.
    Christmas/New Year can be booked at a cost of £350 per week. Easter can be booked at a cost of £350 per week. An additional charge of £15 is added if the terrace room is to be made up into a bedroom.
  • During the period October to April the house may be let for shorter periods of minimum 3 nights.
    Longer winter lets can be booked at a cost of £175 per week with a minimum 4 week booking.

Notes: The staircases are open in the traditional style however child safety gates have been fitted to provide a safe environment for young children. There is a large open fire in the living area which is ideal for warming up the cooler winter evenings. A basket of logs is included in the rental. Each room has wall mounted radiators which again make the house ideal for the winter months. The large outdoor village pool is 5 minutes walk away and is open in the summer months. The village tennis court is open all year round.

Local Activities: Gaucin is a wonderful location for bird watching being on the migratory route from Africa to Europe. There are two horse riding centres close by and organised walks take place regularly leaving from the village. The river running through the valley is ideal for swimming, fishing, diving and generally exploring.

Festivals and Fiestas: A number of festivals take place during the year including the Semana Santa (holy week) processions. The running of the bull on Easter Sunday (a big highlight attracting large crowds). The feria in August has a fairground, music and dancing.

Getting Around: Whilst car hire is recommended for exploring the locality it is not essential as we can organise taxi collection from the airports and local transport for day-trips etc. Once in the village all amenities are within walking distance.

Fantastic White Village Views

We stayed here for five very enjoyable nights last November. The three-level apartment is well designed, well maintained, well appointed and modern – while blending in beautifully with the rest of Gaucin, a traditional white village. The bathrooms and bedrooms are furnished as a home. There is plenty of room for the kids to move, as well as lots of kids games and DVDs. We arrived after dark and were greatly relieved to find bread, wine, coffee and other basics waiting for us in the modern kitchen. It was then easy to find great quality local vegetables, beer and wines and to enjoy copying some of our favourite tapas.

The views from the rooftop balcony are spectacular – on clear days we were looking over Gibraltar to Africa. Gibraltar itself is about 45 minutes down the mountain, with Rhonda the same distance in the other direction. Both are great day trips, but take your own map or GPS - Graham leaves detailed instructions, but we found them hard to follow :)

We found Gaucin to be as friendly as it is beautiful. I will never forget the night in one of the bars when a local farmer came in with his own home made wine to share with everyone (and I hardly know any Spanish). We recommend La Fuente Restaurant, where we had a lovely meal, while Maria babysat the children for us (all contact details are provided in Graham’s book).

Week of relaxation in the sun

Just spent a fabulous week in your Town-house- very impressed with the modern fitting out & amenties - amazing terrace views- must be the best in the village taking in Africa & the Castle-
We found the location ideal for all village attractions & would strongly recommend this letting

Nice house but not our favorite

beautifull house, very stylish. gaucin is a lovely place to stay.
but we didn't like the neighbourhood. (was very noisy and not very friendly). the other side of gaucin is way more attractive in our opinion.

best feature: roof-terrace
worst feature: kitchen and terrace aren't on the same floor
