For peace and tranquility Cortijo La Zahurda, Comares is that special holiday location. The Cotijo La Zahurda, Comares is made up of TWO adjacent villa, the Casa Villa has three bedrooms sleeping 6 and the Casita villa also has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6. Each villa is self-contained and independent of the other.. Both villas accommodation comprises one master bedroom with en-suite, two twin/double bedrooms and a bathroom. Kitchens are fully fitted with hob, oven, grill and fridge freezer. The sitting rooms are comfortably furnished with three or four-seater sofas, dining table and chairs. Outdoor shaded dining table seating 12 plus. Over 200 square metres of terrace area. The private salt water swimming pool with outdoor shower has spectacular far-reaching mountain and sea views. Cortijo La Zahurda, Comares, is in fact TWO detached villa, the Casa villa and the adjacent Casita villa. Set in its own 2.5 acres of grape, almond and olive producing land each accommodation is comfortably independent of its neighbour. With each villa sleeping 6 the whole property can be used as one large booking and yet still retain a separate cosy seclusion. With over 200 square metres of terrace area the Cotijo La Zahurda, Comares, enjoys spectacular mountain and sea views. We are located down a secluded side track only a 3 minute drive from our local village of Comares. Very quiet with no passing traffic to spoil the tranquility. The choice is yours, stay home, self-cater and relax around the large sun-soaked pool terrace or take the 20 minute walk up to the village exploring its tourist free, narrow, winding streets. Uncommercialised yet catering for basic everyday needs you will find a supermarket, post office, pharmacy, restaurant, tapas bars and a couple of bank.

Notes: A grape vine shaded dining area will seat 12 plus diners. Unheated mosaic tiled 8m x 4m private pool. (1 metre in shallow end sloping to 1.8metres) 5 sun patios on the 200square metres of terraces. We have a sand covered Boules court of approx 9m x 5m with steel boule balls provided. Ironing board and steam iron. Pool towels are not provided. Due to the nature of the terraces and steps care must be taken with the elderly and very young children.

Notes: A wide selection of books, games, CDs, videos and a selection of DVDs are provided for both child and adult entertainment. The Master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and King size bed. There are mosquito nets on all the windows and beds. Changeover day is flexible for those cheaper mid-week flights. The pool is serviced twice a week. Garden tables are provided for use on the terrace and around the gas BBQ. *** For your further convenience we are able to offer a MAID SERVICE and BABY SITTING, CATERING and a LADIES PAMPER DAY. *** Bookings taken between October and April may incur a fuel charge - please ask for details..

Places of Interest: Torre del Mar - 40 minutes drive with a Water Park (June to the end of August,) long promenade, beach bars and restaurants, has a wide sandy beach, nightlife, Bavaria 18 hole public golf course and go-karting. Within 30 minutes drive is Lake Vinuela for water sports and activities. Comares is a good inland base to explore the major attractions of Andalucia. The Alhambra Palace (you need to book in summer) & Granada are just a 90 minute drive. Seville (Expo site) and Cordoba (Mezaquita and Roman Bridge) are a little further but worth the effort! Nerja Caves on the coast will take an hour in the car. And Malaga the bustling city, with its cathedral, Bullring, Picasso museum and an ancient centre full of tradition and culture, is a one hour drive through the picturesque Montes de Malaga National Park; or a bus ride from Comares.

The Cortijo: The Cotijo is made up of two adjacent villas. Each are owned by us and each is available for separate rental. This works well with two families travelling together but wanting a little privacy. Villa renters have use of all the available facilities.

This holiday was perfect for us. We were friends yet 2 separate families each with 2 kids (ours 3 & 4 theirs 3 & 16). The villas themselves were excellent, full of character and interest as well as clean and very well equipped. We drew straws prior to departure to allocate villas, with one being smaller than the other, we were in the smaller one which was still great for our needs.
We spent days relaxing around the pool (kids required permanent supervision as the water gets deep quickly), eating far too much at the wonderful shaded dining table, books, siestas, followed by some highly competitive boules with sundowners whilst bbq'ing fresh fish prior to a night cap or 2. Occasionally we strolled up to the local town of Comares which is full of charm with great little tapas bars and restaurants.
To break up the holiday we visited the Aqua Vellis water park, located at the base of the mountains (approx 35 min drive) entry was a little pricey, 51 Euros for the four us, however we had a great day and the kids loved it and thus we returned.
The drive from the coast to the villa was an experience in itself as it is up winding mountain roads culminating in a small track to the villas themselves. This could be a little intimidating if arriving for the first time at night but after the initial trip this was not a concern.
The villa owners, who were in the UK were very helpful throughout and we had no trouble with regard to information, paperwork, arrival preparedness and deposits etc.
Overall - wonderful accommodation and location, full of character and ideal for a memorable holiday with friends and families.
