Villa Romo is a stylish rural villa set on a ridge with far reaching views all around. The peaceful location is private and not overlooked and with 5000 metres (1 acre +) of land, it has a spacious outlook. Comares, a hilltop village, can be seen from the terrace and its traditional bar/restaurants/shops are a 10 minute drive. The accommodation is suitable for a large family or group of friends sharing. Built on one level it is child friendly and ideal for active elderly persons. Well behaved dogs are welcome (outside) and a secure run is provided to the rear of the villa. Villa Romo is an excellent holiday location all year. Southern Andalucia gets over 300 days of sunshine typically. The Villa is equipped with electric fans in all rooms during the summer; these, together with shutters and blinds on all windows, help keep the rooms cool. The lounge/dining room features a brick fireplace for cosy winter warmth. Electric radiators are also supplied in all rooms. Comfortable all year

Villa Romo is set in a rural Axarquia, a hilly region 40 minutes drive from the coast and 10 minutes from Comares village. Comares is the highest village in the Axarquia, approx 800 metres above sea level, with dramatic views all the way to the Mediterranean, some 25 kms distant. Mostly unchanged by modern living on the coast, Inland Axarquia is a quiet area of hills and windy roads; the views are fantastic! This is the place to unwind and go with the slower pace of life. Malga city and airport is a 1 hour drive - max. Granada airport is around 80 mins and the Alhambra Palace 10 mins further. Villa Romo is centrally located for touring Andalucia; Seville, Cordoba and Antequerra are easily reached by good roads. Nerja, with famous caves and good beaches, is 1 hour by car. Villa Romo is accessed directly from a minor country road onto a private driveway. Ample off road parking for 4 cars/caravan/camper - please ask.

  • The Family Bathroom is very spacious and well equipped. Fully tiled, the shower is over a full size bath. Features include his and hers handmade washbasins with large mirror. The En suite shower room is fully tiled in Andalucian blue & white. Spacious shower and ceramic handbasin. The cloakroom has a rustic tiled shower as well as WC and handbasin.

  • The Master Bedroom is large with a 180 wide Kingsize bed and en suite shower room. It faces South and has good views over the pool to the mountains. There is a corner writing desk and ample storage. Double doors open onto the covered terrace. Bedroom 2 is spacious & faces East with far reaching mountain views. It has the cloakroom/shower room just outside the door. Bedroom 3 has both a double and single bed and sleeps 3 in comfort. It is located next to a large family bathroom. Bedroom 4 has 2 single beds (can be moved together) & a single sofa bed, (sofa bed can be moved to any bedroom). All bedrooms have wardrobe and drawer space and large shuttered windows with views.

Village Life - Comares: Comares is a very pretty pueblo blanco in a dramatic location. Unchanged, with views in every direction, the narrow streets turn steeply away from the main Plaza with its welcoming bar. Life is unhurried here. A bank with cash machine, good local shop with fresh produce, chemists, tobacconists and 6 bar/restaurants with local dishes & tapas will make your holiday at Villa Romo a convenient place to stay.

Town & Beach Facilities: Velez Malaga is a large market town where you will find all your shopping requirements including: Modern Shopping centre, Cinemar complex, hospital, water park, bowling centre and specialist shops. Torre Del Mar is the nearest Mediterranean Beach resort. Over 2 kms of wide sandy beaches dotted with beach bars specialising in fish & seafood. Along the promenade you will find entertainment for all ages. Rent a bike or go horse riding on the beach nearby. At Caleta de Velez, the local fishing port and marina 5 mins drive East, there are several excellent eateries next to the beach & boats. Benamargossa, approx 20 mins from Villa Romo, has a 24 hour emergency medical centre.

Exploring Andalucia: Villa Romo is the perfect rural location from which to visit the key sights of Andalucia: Malaga City, with castle & hilltop fort, Picasso museum, great shopping and tapas bars is 1 hour. Granada & Alhambra Palace ( a must see!) is around 90 mins drive. Book in advance online/at local BBVA bank. Seville & Cordoba are a little further on good roads - but worth the effort. Antequerra is less than 1 hour and full of attractive buildings and monuments. Torcal National Park is nearby. Nerja, with famous caves and good sandy beaches, takes 1 hour by car...............And if you want to sample the high life, Marbella & Puerto Banus is a fun day trip!

Back for more and still not had enough

We have just completed our second stay at Villa Romo (first was 3 weeks in May/Jun 2007) and have once again had a wonderful time, so much so that we are already booked to be back in October 2009.

The villa is beautifully situated and well equipped with real thought having gone into the decor, furnishings and accessories. Carl and Maria couldn't be more helpful or welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble.

The kitchen is a delight, as is the pool and there are plenty of places to relax around the villa both in and out of the sun, with plenty of sunbeds available. The addition, since our first visit, of the pergola by the barbecue and the large umbrella at the end of the pool are very real enhancements - thank you Carl for both !!!

The bedrooms are spacious and the the profusion of bathrooms means that - even with a large party visiting - there shouldn't be too much of a queue to use the facilities !!!

The location is rural and quiet with passing traffic at a minimum.

All this AND only 45 minutes from Malaga airport - outstanding !!!!

If you want somewhere with lively local nightlife and an easy stroll each morning to pick up the breakfast croissant and English newspaper this is NOT the place for you. But if you want a well appointed villa set in beautiful mountain scenery, blissful peace and quiet and all the facilities provided by a luxury four bedroomed, three bathroomed villa then this is without a doubt the place to be - whether you are a couple looking for a romantic escape or a family(ies) looking to keep all ages happy (except perhaps the clubbing teenagers !!).

I've been here for all of january and febuary, often on my own but with friends and family visiting. Sitting on the patio overlooking the mountains with my morning coffee and listening to the bird song and the goat bells is an experience which will sustain me for many months. Nicki who came to clean, Carl who owns the villa, Ursula who gave me Spanish lessons, and the many friends I've made here, have made this an exepionally wonderful adventure/holiday.

Romo what a view

I suppose it took us about 45 minutes to get there, the directions given to us were brilliant, it's quite a drive, uphill all the way, you can see all the way to the coast from the mountain road, spectacular! Wow, Romo, what a beautiful place, the pool looked so inviting we basically jumped right in, not a good idea for me, still had car keys (remote) in my pocket, what a wally! Fotunately for us Carl and Maria had provided us with sufficient supplies, the weather was so beautiful and Villa Romo such a lovely place, we could afford to wait a couple of days for the arrival of a new set of keys. Carl told us of some interesting places to visit, we drove to Lake Vinuela and ate at the 'Retaurant Camping' the 'Mustard bar' to the locals, great food and a view to match from the veranda, we loved the views and the peaceful surrounding at the villa too, we visited Comares, the main village, with it's lovely narrow streets with all the locals greeting us with "Hola", my children enjoyed the barbeques and the late swimming in the lit pool, everyone had a lovely time there, the villa is very safe on a really quite road, we will certainly be going back for another holiday, but will change into swim trunks before launching myself into the pool next time!

A Stunning Holiday Villa

Set in a peaceful location with stunning views that one can stare at all day long ,Villa Romo is within easy reach of the coast and the nearby mountain top White Village of Comares with its ecellent bars and restaurants.
This villa is finished and maintained to a high standard by attentive owners , with its spacious rooms beautiful gardens and a very inviting pool and barbecue area.
I would not hesitate to recommend it to large groups(we were a party of 8 !),families or to anyone who wants to just get away from it all.
Villa Romo has something for everyone.!

What a perfect holiday we had! Villa Romo is a new villa in a great location with a high standard of finishing and fully equipped. Feels like a home rather than a holiday house. Set by itself and not overlooked the Villa had an immediate welcoming feel. Clean and well maintained the owners take an obvious pride in the property; this pride well evidenced by the garden.

Despite being less than an hours drive from Malaga Airport this property is in “real” Spain, in the mountains with beautiful views. It would make a good base to explore the unexplored parts of Andalucia, however even if you just stay in the villa there is all one could need. We do recommend spending time in Comares (which can been seen on a hilltop from the Villa) - quite the most amazing village we have ever seen!

We had wanted a private, tranquil, comfortable property (with a pool) and a tarred road to the property (many others had long dirt tracks). Villa Romo met and exceeded our expectations.

This Villa made for a most wonderful holiday and we have such fond memories of our stay there.

We have no hesitation to recommend this property.
