A tranquil retreat with panoramic views

This is our fourth visit to Casa Laura, so it must be excellent! Everything that others have said is true. The welcome is always good, and the care that the owners have for your well being could not be bettered, but note that their English is limited. In Nov 2008 we stayed for a month, and now, in February-March we are here for a month. We have always been very fortunate with weather, and can accept the odd cool day and a couple of days rain during our stay at this time of year. We love the place for its hilltop situation, for the many excellent walking possibilities, and for the pure delight of being to relax and enjoy the views from the villa. The short, steep section of concrete track seems a small price to pay for such an idyllic place.
It is a 12 minute drive to Frigiliana, and another 15 minutes into Nerja. Internet access, which includes free-call to UK. is a real boon for us. By offering this report we are trying to be fair to the owners, but would really like to keep the place a secret!
For those with very young children, note that pool is not separated from patio or playing area, but we had no problems when we had a 3 yearold grandson staying with us. The property is on one level, with a shallow step onto patio, and a shallow step at front door, so is reasonably suitable for those with moderate mobility problems, accepting that you would come and go by car.
There is a nice walk of half-an-hour along the ridge, with half-an- hour return. We often walk up and down the steep concrete section when going out on our rambles, but I accept that for some it would not be ideal without a car. We do walk to and from Frigiliana occasionally, and this takes 1 hr 30mins average each way.
Happy holidays!
