Casa Miranda is a large, spacious country house set amongst olive and almond trees with breathtaking views of distant hills. Less than an hour from Malaga, it is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the El Torcal National Park. The house has a private pool; six bedrooms that comfortably sleep twelve people; a beautiful walled courtyard garden; and patios and terraces around the house. The house is ideal for two families sharing a holiday. Within five minutes drive is the small hamlet of Pastelero with a bakery, and a popular bar/ restaurant. The house was owned by the writer Miranda Innes, whose successful book “Getting to Manaña” describes the restoration of the house and her life in Spain. If you rent the house we will send you a complimentary copy of the book before you stay so you can learn more about the area and the history of the house.

The house is easily reached within one hour’s drive from Malaga airport and the beaches of the Costa del Sol. Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba can be reached within two hours. The village of Pastelero with a shop and two bars/restaurants is within five minutes drive, and the white villages of Villenueva de la Concepcion (market day Monday) and Almogia (market day Tuesday) are 15 minutes away. The bustling market town of Antequera is twenty minutes away. Its historic sites of interest include the prehistoric Dolmens (burial chambers), Roman remains, a Moorish castle, and the Renaissance and Baroque architecture of the town, including its 32 churches. Antequera Golf is also nearby. The house has views of El Torcal, a mountainous limestone outcrop with unusual rock formations. The El Torcal National Park with its many species of wild flowers is popular with walkers, birdwatchers and nature lovers. Other local places of interest include the turquoise lakes of El Chorro Gorge.

Notes: The house is divided into two parts, the North House and the South House - they are connected by way of the terraces around the house. There are two kitchens and two sitting rooms; the layout is ideal for two families sharing. The North House is reached through a beautiful, tranquil courtyard garden. It has the larger sitting room and the kitchen table seats 12. Two of the bedrooms lead directly off the enclosed courtyard garden. The South House leads to the swimming pool terrace and its sitting room has beautiful views of distant hills and Andalucian sunsets. The North House has a working open fireplace and the South House has a wood burner. The house has been restored in typical Andalucian style with wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta floor tiles throughout. The swimming pool is round (3 metres diameter). Sun-loungers are provided. Pool towels also provided.

I stayed here in the south house a few years ago when it was owned by Miranda Innes. I had a great holiday, the villa was beautiful and the surrounding scenery was breathtaking. The weather was lovely and hot, it was so peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone.

Casa Miranda - August 2007 visit

We spent a truly fantastic week at Casa Miranda at the end of August. It's a very straightforward 1 hour drive from Malaga airport up into the mountains. The villa was really well equipped, with loads of space, inside and out. There's a great covered terrace for dining. The pool area and the view were the real highlights.
The location is breathtaking, the villa is high up in the mountains and the view around is tremendous. Around the area there is plenty to visit, Antiqueara is beautiful, El Torqal is fascinating. Overall, a real gem to which we hope to return soon.

Perfect family holiday

We had a great week at this beautiful peaceful house. It was ideal for both time relaxing by the pool and exploring local towns and villages. We visited El Torqual which is a really interesting natural limestone reserve. It was also easy to explore Antequera and a day trip to Cordoba was really fascinating.
The house is really well equiped for self catering. With the babysitting service we also had a couple of meals out. You can get into Malaga for an evening out at one of the beachside restaurants.
Thanks for a great stay - we'll be back!

Casa Miranda is a lovely, well equipped villa in a peaceful and private location with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and towards the Torcal de Antequera. Beautifully clean and well looked after by a local expatriate couple, its layout provides masses of space with the added bonus of being ideal for two families, for each of whom everything is duplicated, including kitchens, if required. It includes several covered verandahs (suitable for eating out whatever the weather), a very attractive and completely private courtyard with a fountain and shrubs, and a good sized, circular and heated pool, which is secluded with lots of well laid out space and shade. There are plenty of attractive villages within easy driving distance for supplies and for eating out; further distant Cordoba is easily accessible for a day trip. And the nearby Parque Natural de El Torcal makes for spectacular walking. Eating out is a fairly simple experience in the nearest villages but good value. For something more special, we would recommend the Hotel La Fuente del Sol - eating out at night on their terrace is romantic with delicious food. All in all, we had a magical week at Casa Miranda and intend to go again. We would certainly recommend it strongly to our friends.

An outstanding holiday location not too far from Malaga and within reach of local towns with both parts of the property fitted out to the highest standard. With views to die for, extraordinary sunsets and the relaxing sounds of goats bells and the gentle breeze in the almond groves this is the plaec to take a step back from the rush of busy lives and "get a life" again. We have visited 3 times and cannot wait to go back to this delightful family friendly place with its pool and lovely cared for gardens. The final tick in the box of success is the support from Casa Miranda's local agent who is friendly, helpful and for whom nothing is too much trouble. Enjoy
