Local facilities:
- - the closest pueblo - La Dehesa - is a collection of widely scattered rural houses at the top of a low mountain ridge. A few miles away is Lake Vinuela with swimming, golfing and now with a number of good quality restaurants. Some 12 miles on is the typically Spanish town of Velez Malaga, with banks, cinemas and a major shopping centre. A few miles further and you are in the beach resort of Torre del Mar with all the usual water-parks, well maintained beachfront with bars, restaurants, discos, water sports....
Axarquia:
- the south-east portion of Malaga province - is made up of mountains and the Mediterrean coastline. The mountains are largely protected national parks - somewhat wild and barren, with a band of varied agricultural lands on the slopes down to the sea. It's an old area - prehistoric man was here, the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Moors all were visitors and it has it's own deep beauty. Casa Estrella is in the centre of all this - with ready access to Malaga, Nerja and with Granada, Cordoba, Marbella and even Sevilla close enough for a day trip.
