This luxurious well equipped villa is in an area of outstanding natural beauty with simply stunning views over Lake Vinuela, the surrounding mountains and our own olive grove. The view is more fascinating than a sea view. The villa is perfect for a getting away from it all holiday and is in a very peaceful location on a plot of 5000sq m. With over 300 days sunshine a year, it is beautiful in all seasons, particularly for those who enjoy walking in glorious countryside, (or simply sitting looking at the views, glass in hand!). A wood stove and additional heating will ensure an off season break is very comfortable. The villa is just over 15 minutes from the coast & has good access. A number of excellent restaurants are nearby. The well maintained south facing private pool has wide steps (perfect for lounging on to cool down). It is an easy drive to Nerja & other towns like Granada and Seville. The fiestas in the local villages are an experience not to be missed, see the real Spain!

The villa is on a hillside covered in olive trees facing Lake Vinuela and the Sierra Tejada and is under 2 minutes from the main road round the lake. Malaga is just 45 minutes away. Lake Vinuela is one of Andalucia's best kept secrets and is unspoilt by mass tourism. The lake is a reservoir and is used for sailing, windsurfing, fishing but no motorised boats, thus ensuring tranquillity. There are two excellent 18 hole golf courses nearby, Bavaria Golf, 15 mins, and Club Anorets, 25 mins. You can also enjoy skiing in the Sierra Nevada. The nearest beach resort is the typically Spanish resort of Torre del Mar, just over 15 minutes away. A wide promenade runs alongside its sandy beach to the marina at Caleta. Nearby is a fabulous shopping complex, El Ingenio with a hypermarket, Eroski, dozens of other shops, a cinema, and restaurants. Also nearby is a large water park and go kart track. Nerja, with its famous caves, is 25 minutes away and Marbella and Fuengirola are less than 1 hr.

  • Discounts are available for late bookings.
    As the journey time to the villa is only 45 minutes from Malaga it is ideal for a short break.
  • We are flexible with changeover days to suit mid week cheap flights and will also be flexible with times into and out of the villa, unless another party is due in imminently.. A 25% deposit is required at time of booking, and the balance is required two months before arrival date.
    A £100 refundable deposit is payable to cover any damage or breakages. It will be refunded after the villa has been inspected.

Notes: The lounge has new comfortable leather settees, one with reclining seats, wonderful for gazing out at the view through the new picture window. As we are keen cooks there are essentials like a BBQ, paella pan, blender, olive oil and spices for your use in the separate well fitted kitchen. We enjoy eating most of our meals outside on one of the porches or the pergola looking at the amazing views. There are 2 sets of outdoor dining tables and chairs and a lovely shady pergola. A gas BBQ with separate hob is provided. There is also a small charcoal BBQ. Ashtrays for use on the terrace are provided for guests who wish to smoke. The large area around the pool is fully tiled in terracotta. There is ample parking space. As the villa and terraces are all on one level it is accessible to wheelchairs, however, there is a very low step below each entrance door . Please ask for more info if required.

Interior: Hot and cold A/C in all 3 bedrooms. A feature of the lounge is a very high ceiling keeping the room cool, a wood burning stove, logs and additional heating. If you ever tire of the glorious weather and scenery outside, inside is satellite TV, DVD, video & Hi-Fi. The fully fitted kitchen is a real home from home with a fan oven, electric hob, combination microwave, large fridge / freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, tea pot, blender and an extensive array of crockery, unbreakable patio-ware and cooking utensils. A patio door leads from the lounge onto the terrace. The en suite also has double doors onto the terrace..a wonderful view to wake up to! The family bathroom has a WC, sink and bath with a shower and shower screen. The en suite room has a WC, sink and a shower enclosure, no clammy shower curtains in this villa! All linens are provided except for beach / pool towels. Broadband access is by cable or Wireless to guest's laptop and is free.

Exterior: Outside there are 2 porches and an enormous terrace and a pergola. The property is set in grounds of 5,000 sq metres. Beneath the villa is the original olive grove with over 40 mature trees. Fig trees can be found on the back perimeter and guests are welcome to pick the fruit when ripe. There are 6 wheeled sun beds with cushions, 3 side tables. For dining there are 2 sets of tables and chairs, with 6 and 8 chairs. Ash trays are provided for use outside the villa. There is ample parking. There are normally pool inflatables and there is a set of boules. There is a shower by the pool. In the villa there are some professionally written leaflets detailing local walks, incorporating detailed text, sketch maps and photos. The walks vary from 2-3 hour walks around the lake edge to 9 hours walk up into the mountains! (for the brave and hardy!). Unlike some other properties in this area of Spain there is no need for a 4 wheel drive car to access the villa.

The Area: Although very peaceful and secluded the villa is not remote. There are a few English residents nearby, always friendly and eager to help. All around the property are paths leading to some glorious walks through unspoilt countryside. On the opposite side of the lake is a National Park which is widely used by walkers and ramblers. The mountain villages are well worth a visit to see the real Spain. There are a number of wonderful restaurants and bars within a few minutes drive, all offering very good value and extensive menus. The local jamonerie / delicatessen (a few minutes from the villa) sells amazing cheeses, hams and wines, all of which you can sample before buying. It also has a small bar where you will receive free Tapas with your drinks. Try their delicious olive oil bread! There is a wonderful shopping mall with a hypermarket, Eroski, within a 15 minute drive. Here you can buy from an amazing selection of food, including an extensive fresh fish and sea-food counter.

Ski: The Ski village of Sierra Nevada is approximately 90 minutes drive from Lake Vinuela.There are nursery slopes and more challenging runs for experienced skiers - Sierra Nevada is one of the premier ski resorts in Europe. Equipment can be hired at very reasonable prices Don’t Ski ? Don't worry !! There is plenty here for everyone. Soak up the mountain sun - take a dog sled trip through the mountains - take a cable car ride to the first station and be amongst the action. There are plenty of restaurants and bars where you can sit and really absorb the atmosphere. Children love it here - there are travelaters to carry them safely to the top of the beginners slopes. they can then ski back to mum and dad waiting at the bar/restaurant. Plenty of good ski and winter sports shopping in the village. and there are vast underground car parks beneath the shops. There is normally sufficient snow from November right through until late May.

Golf: There are two excellent 18 hole golf courses nearby, Bavaria Golf, a 15 minute drive, and Club Anorets, 25 minutes drive. There are also many more courses along the coast. Why not visit off season when it is a lot more comfortable to play golf

Other Activities: This is a walkers paradise, with the National Park being one of fhe best known walking areas in Spain.

We stayed in the villa for 2 weeks in july 2009. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday. Just waking up to those views every morning was amazing.
The villa is well equiped with everything needed for an enjoyable stay.
The villa has a great pool, wich is not to deep, so the overall temperature of the water stays agreable.
We got excellent instructions, advise and help from the owner and from the local contacts Peter and Dee. Special complements to Peter who came by on a Sunday to repare one of the toilets.
This was our best holiday ever. The children didn't want to leave.

To get up in a morning to the view is fantastic and that alone is enough to give a 5* rating. The villa is well equiped with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Eileen couldn't have helped more and eased any concerns I had on my 1st booking(regarding our 2yr old). Nothing is too much trouble for Peter and Dee and they have lots of tips on the local area. We stayed in the villa Aug 2005 and July 2007 for 2 weeks, we totally re-charged our batteries and we spent most of our time at the villa relaxing and getting lots of quality family time.

What a wonderful goodby to winter

We had the pleasure of being the first visitors from Finland in this lovely, lovely villa. Must say that it is as hard to impress a Finn with a lake view, as it is to impress a Brazilian with a beach or fresh fruit - but we were speachless in front of the stunning view from the patio and from the living room panorama window. It was like being in a very beautiful painting - added with the charm of the birds singing and lovely fragrance of the surrounding nature.

We spent there a week in Feb-Mar, after a very rainy winter. Had some rain during the week, but also enjoyed meals on the sunny patio - luxury in February! The nice fire place kept us warm during the cool evenings. The villa is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable. It has a very nice feel of a home. Location is very peaceful, safe and relaxing.

We got excellent instructions, advise and help from the owner and from the local contacts Peter and Dee. Made nice walks thru the surrounding area with olive grows, visited close-by villages e.g. Frigliana, voted to be the most charming Spanish village. City of Nerja on the coast was nicer than the horrible tourist colosseums along the Costa del Sol. Good shopping centre with excellent supermarket on the way from the airport or Nerja. There are some restaurants within a short drive, the best one was in the village on the hillside, the other side of the main road. You will find the name in the guest book.

We warmly recommend to anybody seeking a relaxing place just to enjoy, or to explore Andalucia. Maybe not for families with toddlers, but for any age above 3 years. And you do need a car. We hope to return - in later spring or early autumn time!

The perfect villa

Looking to escape from a busy lifestyle at home and find a cure for “executive stress” the villa proved to be the perfect remedy. We went out for two weeks but ended up staying for three!

Located in an idyllic location with what can only be described as the perfect view of Lake Vinuela, the villa provides everything you could need. The cleanest villa we have ever rented, great range of utensils and lovely outdoor facilities with great good size pool, BBQ and loads of outdoor seating and loungers.

There is a lovely butchers and bakers nearby as well as larger supermarkets a short drive away.

Pete and Dee who greeted us were always on hand if we needed anything and if you crave a taste of home, Chez Spice will provide a great view and some good quality Indian food to match.

A great villa for couples or families in a lovely part of Spain ...we will certainly be back.
