Activities/Sports/Shopping:
[Beaches] - There are a number of excellent beaches within easy reach (including naturist beaches). The nearest beach is at Torre Del Mar - a long wide beach with activities and facilities.
[Waterparks/Themeparks] There is a waterpark 15 minutes away at Torre Del Mar and there are further waterparks and theme parks near Malaga.
[Watersports] - Sailing, Jetskiing, Waterskiing & Windsurfing are all available at many nearby places.
[Walking] - Easy or challenging, spectacular scenery.
[Horse Riding, Fishing] - Available nearby.
[Shopping] - Local shops nearby and a large shopping centre at Velez Malaga/Torre del Mar and the town has many good shops. There are also many excellent shops at Nerja. [In the villa you will find survival supplies of tea cofee herbs etc and a welcome pack is provided]
[Bowling and Cinema] - 15 minutes away in Torre del Mar
Places to Visit:
[Traditional Spanish Pueblos] - Many traditional 'white' villages all around. Each has its own character and has remained unchanged for hundreds of years - look out the fiestas (village parties) during the summer. [Alhambra at Granada] - This magnificent sight is definately worth a visit.
[Nerja Caves] - Spectacular cave complex, the best in Spain, includes concert hall.
[Alpujarrás] - The setting for the popular book 'Driving over Lemons'.
[Sierra Nevada] - Magnificent mountain range including ski resort.
[Ronda and Seville] - quite a drive away but worth a visit. Ronda famous for its gorge and the home of Spanish bullfighting. Seville with its Moorish heritage and spectacular architecture - see the Giralda, one of the most famous buildings in Spain. Christopher Columbus sailed from here to discover America.
[Gibraltar] - Quite a drive but worth a visit. See the barbary apes, Africa and the famous gate to the Meditteranian.
[Bird watching] Several local sites
Special Interests:
[Walking] There are several walks, from easy to more challenging, in the local area. The cooler period - October to May is a good time. Guided walks are also available as well as 4x4 mountain tours.
[Winter Sport] We are about 1.5 hours away from the Sierra Nevada ski slopes, where you can play in the snow.
[Bird watching] There are several bird watching opportunities nearby. Just 15 minutes away on the coast is one of the best rated sites on the Coata del Sol, and inland, just north west is one of the major Flamingo breeding areas in Europe. Near Malaga there is a good area of wetlands with good reports.
If you are lucky you might see eagles in the nearby Natural Parks, and of course there are birds on and around the lake.
[Golf] There are two excellent golf courses nearby.
[Heated pool] Don't forget - in the cooler season the heated pool can add that extra relaxation after your activities.
