Things to do on holiday in Palma de Majorca

It is surprising that a region can have such a great level of culture, history and nightlife combined in one area, but somehow, Palma de Majorca has managed it. Originally inhabited in Roman times, Palma has a long history, and those still living in the old quarter regularly find Roman artefacts less than a metre below the surface.

If you are looking for Majorca holidays to provide all night parties and raves, you need to head west to Magaluf or one of its neighbouring resorts. There are some delightful beaches in the Palma de Majorca area. The Bay of Palma is surprisingly free of beaches, but on either side of the Bay are the beach resorts of Cala Mayor and C’an Pastilla. Here you can relax with the sand between your toes, swim or sail. Windsurfing and kite surfing are also hugely popular activities, and easily practiced from a villa in Palma de Majorca.

The city of Palma is the commercial centre of the island, and as a result, many of the best shopping and finest restaurants can be found here. It is also the cultural centre of Majorca, home to the Royal Palace, Castle of Bellver and the Palma Cathedral, one of the largest gothic structures in the world. The fact that Palma was voted the best place to live in Spain speaks volumes for the city.

Golfers will be in heaven in Son Vida; a luxury golf and spa resort on the coast of Palma de Majorca. The old course was renovated in 2001, making it one of the most luxurious golf and spa resorts in Spain. In Palma you can find one of the best selection of holiday villas in Majorca. Weather in Palma de Majorca

Majorca’s climate is excellent, with blissfully warm summers in which temperatures average almost 30°C, although reliable sea breezes keep the air refreshing. In winter, temperatures are cooler but not cold, with temperatures almost never dropping below 10°C.

Travel to Palma de Majorca

Starting your Palma de Majorca holiday could not be easier. The Palma de Majorca Airport is located just 8km from the city centre, and transfers are easy. There are also a range of firms offering car hire in Palma de Majorca and the airport, so getting around will not pose any problems. There is also a shuttle bus which leaves every 15 minutes.
