Alcudia area holiday apartment

Primarily this was chosen due to its location and the air conditioning. A previous apartment on the Bellevue years earlier in August had proved unbearable due to its lack of air conditioning. However, at present, this apartment does not have air conditioning and we had to contact the owner on arrival who arranged for a mobile unit to be delivered. However, this was inadequate for the August heat and proved almost useless. There are fans in the apartment (although the one in the main bedroom did not work) but these were insufficient and not what we expected. The apartment is clean and well equipped although a couple of items did not work i.e. stereo, the sofa bed in the photo does not open although a futon is available alongside which did the job, and some lights needed bulbs. It is not on the same level as the swimming pool as we thought, it simply overlooks the pool (and the tennis courts from the front). There were no sun loungers in the apartment and these had to be hired daily from the reception area which was disappointing (3 euros each). The pool wasn't too busy during the day unlike the other pools around the Bellevue complex which was nice. There are a couple of lively bars nearby which do not finish their entertainment until midnight but after that it was a quiet complex. The nearby Red Lion provided quite good food and reasonable entertainment. Location of the apartment is good for shops and restaurants. The beach is about a 20-25 minute walk away although you can get the boat (on the Bellevue complex) across to the quieter areas of the beach away from the main part if you want. You can hire bikes nearby and it's a pleasant cycle along the beach front. Alcudia beach is fantastic for young kids as it is so shallow and clear for about 100 metres. Reception staff were always available when we needed them and appeared friendly and helpful. Parking was sometimes difficult near the apartment and we often had to park in the nearby complex. .Apartment is basic and clean and virtually on the Bellevue complex so you can use all the facilities. We had 3 adults and 2 children in our group which was okay for the apartment size. Our only real disappointment was the lack of air con as we had contacted the owner prior to our visit to ensure that this was in place. We did visit Formentor by car which was an interesting drive (some nice views) but the place was packed with people and the beach (in our opinion) no better than the one at Alcudia!
