In an elevated south facing position, yet with easy beach access, these apartments have panoramic views across the bay and beach of Santa Ponsa. They are adjacent but completely independent which provides opportunity for them to be rented separately or together for a group of up to 10 people. The apartments are within the high quality Xaloc II development. There is a well maintained 25m communal swimming pool for use by apartment residents. The sea is less then 50m from the apartments.

Apartment 31 has 2 twin bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The floors are tiled throughout. It has views from the lounge through 2 large windows across the bay. The lounge has a sofa which converts to a bed for a 5th person if required. There is a balcony with table and chairs. Internally there is a dining area with seating for up to 5 and a fully eqipped kitchen and utility room.

Santa Ponsa is a popular well developed beach resort 10 miles west of Palma. It is based around an attractive west facing blue flag beach with fine sand and a bay with a clear shallow sea, which is ideal for families. The beach is well equipped with a full range of activities and is backed by pine trees. The bay is a popular anchorage for yachts and cruisers because of the sheltered position and has pleasant views west to the spectacular cliffs and hills towards Andratx.

Notes: The apartment has tiled floors throughout and because of the elevated position maintains a very even pleasant temperature throughout the year. We have visited the apartment regularly since our children were very small and despite the elevated position (because of the enclosed balcony) we have found it ideal for young children. The apartment is 3 floors above the 25m swimming pool, which again is ideal for young children because of a large shaded area covering the shallow end. The apartment has lift and disabled access to both the front and rear streets. The sea is a 2 minute walk from the entrance.

Location: The apartments are situated on the southern aspect of the attractive bay of Santa Ponsa. Santa Ponsa is a beach resort that attracts a wide range of people from retired golf lovers, families with young children, couples and activity holiday enthusiasts to yacht owners. The resort has a wide choice of restaurants, shops and bars to suit every taste. The apartment is a five minute walk from the resort centre. Access on foot to the beach, shops, restaurants and sea is very convenient and easy for all ages. Palma with its cathedral, harbour, old town and cosmopolitan feel is only a 15 minute car journey away.

Activities: The beach offers all kinds of water sports, sailing and diving. In 2004 the Spanish round of the world beach volley ball tour was held on the beach. The coastline is full of contrasts with many bays and coves and clear turquoise seas. The apartment is an excellent base to discover the picturesque hilly pine clad south-west of the island and the rocky north coast. It is an excellent base for hiking and cycling. Santa Ponsa has 3 local courses, which have hosted the Mallorcan Classic European Tour Event. There are more courses within a short drive. Tennis is available at several local clubs. Children will enjoy the nearby attractions of Marineland and Aqualand.

Getting There: The apartment is 20 minutes from Palma airport by car or taxi.

Golf: Santa Ponsa has a lot to offer golfers. Santa Ponsa has 3 attractive courses with a forth, Club de Poniente, only a few minutes away. These courses are of high standard and have previously hosted the Mallorcan Classic European Tour Event. In addition there are several other courses within a short distance - to the west at Camp de Mar (10 minutes by car) and to the east in the western suburbs of Palma (10 minutes by car).

Excellent holiday apartment

This is the best holiday apartment we have ever stayed in! Exactley as described, it is in a very convienient location for the beach and the amienities are fantastic. The pool is well maintained and although we went in peak season the pool was not crowded. Everything you could wish for in an apartment was there for use, including hair tongs and a good supply of beach equipment such as lilos, goggles flippers and snorkles e.t.c.

The communication with Nigel and Christine was very good and they care about the people who are their customers. I would recommend this property to my family members without hesitation.

For the best Seafood Paella you will ever taste try the Xalloc resteraunt. There is also a very nice Chinese to the right of the apartments on the high street and the indian resteraunt on the high street provided an excellent curry.

The resort as a whole is friendly and I cannot recall one bit of rowdy behaviour whilst there.

Really glad I found this apartment. Deposit returned promptly.

Family with young children

The apartment is in an excellent location to the beach, it is served by lifts that take you to the main street. On the other hand the bedrooms of apartment 31 are right next to busy steps which are used by revelers in town up to the dawn and we were woken up every night by their drunken shouting. This I guess happens if you stay in this apartment during the summer months as Santa Ponsa started resembling Magaluf at night time.
The building has a well kept swimming pool and is kept very clean. The apartment requires updaing though. The cooker had 1 out of 3 hobs not working, the oven did not work, the only sharp knife was the bread knife, the paint in the bathroom is peeling, the ceiling fan in the sitting room shakes violently when turned on and could not be used, the bedding is very worn out.
We would suggest the owner to either move the advert to the budget category or to invest in renovations.
There is a good selection of books and water activities equipment.
We stayed in July 2009, but this response page only accepts up to February 2009, so we have put that month.

Santa Ponsa - excellent holiday

Throughout our initial enquiry through to the booking we have had excellent communications with Nigel & Christine, we even received a welcome pack which was full of useful information about the apartment, location and also suggested activities.

The apartment is ideally located close to the centre of Santa Ponsa which was perfect for us as a good selection of the restaurants are easily reached with the furthest being a 10 minute walk. We enjoyed many sunrises and sunsets whilst sat on the spacious balcony which overlooks the bay, it was both private and sufficiently safe to leave our small child on her own.

The apartment was well equipped with all the usual home from home appliances, also a box full of all the equipment you need for a good trip down to the beach, a pleasant surprise which saved us buying specific items.. many thanks for this, a nice touch.

In summary Xaloc is very clean, well maintained and quiet, the pool is excellent and provides an area for little ones. I would suggest that it is an ideal holiday location for all ages, young and old. We will definitely be returning in 2009. Many thanks again.

REFUND OF DEPOSIT...

Although this apartment is adequate, and old fashioned, it is disappointing that the owners do not have a contact in the resort for any problems that may arise, ie. loss of keys. They appear unprofessional in my view.
If you have young children I would suggest you choose somewhere else in the resort with entertainment as the apartments would appear to be suitable to older people. There is nothing going on.
Also your deposit may not be refunded due to unreasonable excuses. As was mine.
I would not stay here again. Other accommodation close by much more reasonable.

Owner's Response: We take our responsibility as owners very seriously and have good support in the resort.
Ourselves and family stay regularly at the apartment and have done so since our teenage children were babies.

We require the apartment to be left in an acceptable state to allow for good preparation for the next clients.

Unfortunately in the review below this was sadly not the case. We sustained considerable extra costs and this affected the deposit. This is the first time in 5 years we have had a problem.

We are happy to discuss further should you wish.
