'ESQUEREDO' and its guest house 'LA CASA DOS' comprise an ancient Alquería (farmstead) on the edge of Fornalutx in Calle del Viento - 'the Road of the Wind.' Adjacent to Castille Del Munt, the great house and Keep that stands on the 10th Century fortified farmstead, this is the oldest part of Fornalutx. High on the edge of the village and partially on the castle wall, ESQUEREDO has stunning, uninterrupted views of the Sóller Valley and Puig Major, while LA CASA DOS has a more intimate and protected vista onto the Tramuntana Mountains. These would have been the town houses of the smaller farms that were tithed to Castille del Munt. Both houses underwent extensive restoration in 1998-99 completely modernising the facility, while retaining the fine exterior stonework and charming antique interior ceramic tile, terracotta, wood beams and antique windows. Separate but adjoining, both can be rented together for up to 7 guests with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms or separately for 2 - 5 persons

LA CASA DOS is a wonderfully friendly and inviting casita, a romantic getaway for any time of the year. It is situated in the most picturesque and ancient part of the enchanting village of Fornalutx, in a secluded and flower-laden cul-de-sac. Master bedroom with queen-size bed. Bathroom with shower. Kitchen with gas hob and oven, fridge and washing machine. Entrada/dining area with wood stove. Sitting-room with fireplace and Sofa-bed. Oil-filled radiators in every room. The Entrada floor is traditional cobble stones. Every other level of the casita is tiled in traditional warm terracotta. There is a large, fully retractable sun awning for the private sun terrace located off the bedroom. The bathroom plumbing & electrical supply have been newly installed. (220V/50Hz.) The house has a stereo CD player; satellite television (Sky/BBC basic digital service) and a dual standard VCR (PAL/NTSC) with a library of movies. All utilities and laundry/cleaning are included in the price.

FORNALUTX sits nestled in the most spectacular vale within the Serra de Tramuntana - the valley of Sóller. The village is an oasis of tranquillity, with historic houses built in mellow, caramel-coloured stone, lining cobbled mule steps rising above a charming town plaza. Known as the 'Aldea Mil Años' (Village of a Thousand Years) it commands fabulous views of orange groves and olive terraces climbing high into the backdrop. One can almost experience the spirit of the early settlers. The Venetian traders cutting through the high passes in search of olive oil, the then currency of the Mediterranean. The Roman soldiers milling Saharan wheat in the water mills powered by the valley’s abundant springs. The Moors, with their understanding of all things created in stone, ceramic and terracotta.   • 'LA CASA DOS' IS IDEAL FOR 2 PERSONS. Weekly/Nightly rate shown is for a couple. An additional guest (sofa bed): €75 euros per week; €15 euros per night.
    €10 per week laundry charge. Additional guest €5 euros per week. Linens are commercially laundered and pressed/new high quality sheets & towels.
  • We require a 25% transferable deposit to confirm the booking and have advantageous cancellation/postponement terms for transferable deposits of 50% or 100%. Balance required 2 weeks prior to arrival. Our minimum booking is 4 nights. Bookings of 4-6 nights require a 50% deposit, which is transferable to other dates in the event of a cancellation/postponement, provided we receive 21 days notice.
  • For reservations made from the Euro-zone and the UK we request a SWIFT wire transfer or IBAN Interbank transfer to our account in Spain... For reservations from the UK we can accept direct deposit into our NatWest Bank account... For reservations from the USA & Canada we can accept $USD personal checks for the deposit and $/Euro Wire-transfer for balance. All currency conversions from Euros is calculated ON THE DATE PAYMENT IS DUE.

Note that dogs have to be 'walked out' on a leash. NO SMOKING in the house: use the secluded cul-de-sac for a quick puff. Smoking is allowed on the Roof Terrace.

The stay at La Casa Dos was marvellous and I have never seen hiking like that in Fornalutx before, truly amazing, I am looking forward to coming there and do some more hiking in the near future. We just want to say thank you very much again for all your hospitality, you have done a great job and made us feel very welcomed and at home, 5 stars.

We would just like to say what a wonderful time we had staying at 'La Casa Dos' this past week-end. The house is beautiful and had all we needed to make the stay enjoyable. Being greeted by a bottle of wine when we arrived after midnight made the day end on a positive note. The notes and the folder with all the information are brilliant, as they helped us no end when we only had 4 days to discover a small portion of Mallorca. - Everything is really well thought through. - Thank you.

We had a wonderful trip to Mallorca and Fornalutx was the best "base-camp" for all short-trips to Formentor, Sa
Calobra, Palma etc... Sun, orange and lemon trees were at its best, as well the almond cakes, juices and the typical mallorqin meals (mariscos!). The appartment is a lovely place to stay. It was a great holiday!"

A Gourmand's Dream

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Jill, Alexander and I all had an absolutely wonderful time in your magical village. The houses were utterly charming and the village just amazing. The bakery gave Paris a run for the money and the local fruits/veg and meat made me, the cook and chief food consumer, completely and deliriously happy. For the first time in my life the melons were always ripe, the tomatoes always sweet and the courgettes had character. Then there was the chicken stew with stock made from a real chicken head. Beat the old bouillon cube all to pieces, that's for sure. The two local eateries up the hill were superb and right up our alley as we all like straightforward and fresh country cooking. We were all amazed by the warm and buoyant waters of the Med and the beauty of cove beaches but we also loved going to the local pool having it almost all to ourselves. We found your suggestions and information really helpful and only wished we had time to try so much more. Penny was delightful too and joined in the great fun of Saturday night in the village square rocking out till all hours with all of us and everyone else

They are available either as completely separate units or as one. They share the same quiet cul-de-sac with the front doors close by. In every other respect they are independent. LA CASA DOS can make a quiet retreat from a larger party.
