A Magical Mallorcan Casita

This is one of those lovely places where you just walk in and immediately feel at home. Everything was as described on the website, but what no website can adequately describe is the "good vibes" emitted by the Casita. It oozes atmosphere. We were fortunate - the weather was glorious. Although we stayed in early March, it felt like an early summer's day in the UK. Sitting on chairs outside the front door (just like the older locals!!) in shorts and t-shirts (not like the older locals!) at 5pm, eating the most delicious oranges freshly plucked from the tree in the Casita's "secret garden", or standing on the upstairs terrace, glass of wine in hand, watching the sun sink behind the mountains, were simple but unforgettable pleasures. Needing the loo in the night and having to negociate down and back up 2 flights of stairs was more forgettable, however! But, that apart, the Casita was just great. The village of Estellencs is a Mallorcan gem - quiet, unpretentious, practically unspoilt. Wandering around its narrow alleyways, you are almost lost in time. The two restaurants at the foot of the steps were both very good indeed - we felt the Monitmar had the culinary edge over the Son Llarg. Neither were cheap - an evening meal for 2 with a bottle of wine was around €60+ and lunch for 2 around €20. But worth it. If you're not walkers (ie ramblers) car hire is a must to explore this dramatic part of Mallorca. Don't be put off by the description of the steep steps to get up to the Casita. The steps themselves aren't steep - just the incline on which they are built. My broken ankle had only come out of plaster 2 weeks before the trip, and I had no bother at all. And there's another bonus - it makes for a tourist-free zone!! All in all, a terrific place to stay.
