Casa Romana sits at the foot of the Calvario steps in the seclusion of the old town, minutes from the best bars, cafes and restaurants on Mallorca, and a short walk to the Placa Major with its bustling Sunday market. There is one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two twin-rooms, which share a family bathroom. Beautifully decorated, with an intriguing corridor, which links a comfortable sitting room with a large dining kitchen. Air-conditioning, log-fire, TV, video, dish-washer and washing-machine. Peaceful and pretty internal patio garden with splash-pool and small roof terrace with stunning views.

The house: The house has everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and is designed to be lived in. Make it your home from home or use it as a convenienet base for eating and drinking in or out as you please. And for realxing, exploring having fun or just become part of a safe, cosmopolititan community.

The location: The location is in the very heart of the beautiful and historic town of pollenca, buzzing with life, charm and elegance. It is a romantic desitination with some of the finest restaurants and funkiest bars on the north of the island of Mallorca. You will be a few minutes walk from a long relaxed lunch with a good value 'menu del dia' or from night out with al fresco dining and drinking and no worries about driving home. The town has shops, bars, art galleries and two museums and manages to combine being very grwon up with being a haven for families. children are welcome everywhere and will love having an ice cream and playing with children of other nationalities in the town square. The town is a few minutes drive from two beatiful beaches, within half an hour of fabulous mountain scenery and less than an hour will take you to the cool city of Palma. there is wind-surfing, diving, golf, cycling and excellent horseriding nearby.

An enjoyable stay

We are increasingly finding an over supply of holiday rentals is leading to falling standards and at times unacceptable behaviour by owners - Casa Romana does NOT fall into this category.

The house could not be better located in the centre of town - its in the true historic area (not an old house on the edge of town) - it is around 100 yards from both the Calvari steps and Main Square.

This gives you a wide choice a restaurants within easy walking distance. Even in February many were still open unlike other parts of the island where they close down.

It is hard to fault any of the interior of the house - many recent renovations fall back on "bling" which loses the character of the house. Casa Romana is stylish in a Mallorcan context. On a basic note everything actually worked ! which makes a change when renting even expensive properties.

If you are looking for a rental in town look no further.

Our only negative comments would be the street noise at night which definitely wasn't overly intrusive but this house isn't in open fields and you have the huge advantage of not having to use the car for drinks/food etc. (we have never stayed in a town before).

The service from the owners was also without fault - very good directions, information packs and a security deposit cheque returned very promptly.

In summary a very enjoyable and stressless rental during Feb 2009.

Delightful Casa Romana

Myself, husband two children aged 9 and 15 and kids' grandma visited Casa Romana in late July / early August.The property was an absolute delight, clean and beautifully appointed. It's position in the town was ideal with easy access to local shops and restaurants. The town itself was great, with many interesting buildings to admire, a colourful Sunday market and a wide variety of shops.

We enjoyed several meals out with a good choice of restaurants only minutes away. We found it unneccessary to travel out of Pollenca to go to the supermarket as there was a well stocked shop literally just down the street from the house. This combined with a deli a bit further away and local bakery supplied all our culinary requirements.

We hired a car which we found invaluable and enjoyed several days out across the island. Most notable were visits to Valldemossa, Palma, Coves del Drac and La Granja (a must see).

The house itself was perfect for our requirements being interesting, authentic and remarkably cool despite the summer heat. The only downside was the lack of parking in the town. We had no problem with walking to the house from wherever the car was parked, it was the difficulty in obtaining a space in the first place! Overall, however, we considered this a small price to pay for the benefits,

If you are lucky enough to be in Pollenca during the annual Moors and Christians festival as we were it is useful to know that they really know how to party, so if you have anyone in your group who needs a good nights sleep take earplugs... one night the local brass band struck up at 5am! The midnight fireworks however were ample compensation and we sat on the Calvari steps for a magical grandstand view of the proceedings (a highlight of the holiday particularly for my daughter who is more used to watching fireworks considerably better wrapped up!)

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would go back to the house without any hesitation. In fact we didn't want to leave.
