Fornalutx holiday house

Lovely,clean,well equipped house in beautiful village setting. 45 min walk into Soller or there is a bus 4 times a day. Good shop in village so we did not feel we needed a car. Our only reservation is that we were a little overlooked by the car park, although it was very quiet, and very close to the 2 adjoining houses which was fine for us as we are a family, but may have put off honeymooners! Extremely helpful lady managing the property, she was wonderful. Fabulous views over mountains and orange groves, all on the doorstep.

This is our third visit to the Soller area, but our first staying in Fornalutx.
There were 6 of us staying including our 2 young grandchildren.
We were truly delighted with the house-we really could not have wished for more. To have your own swimming pool whilst being located so close to the centre of the village was fantastic.
It was so nice to able to take the short walk up to the square for a drink or ice cream.
The roof terrace was a nice bonus for me and my husband to escape to in early evening for a quite read.
The kids loved the pool of course(actually so did we).
Port Soller is about a 10 minute drive, and we spent some lovely time there. There are 2 beaches, and Repic was our favourite. We had a lovely fish meal at a restaurant above the port called La Luna(the lighthouse).
Fornalutx is a charming holiday location, and we cannot recommend Casa Mia enough as a place to stay.

Casa Mia is the perfect holiday house in a beautiful location. One of a row of four, the house is compact, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are stunning views across a lush valley full of orange, lemon and olive trees to the mountains - you can truly believe you are in the Garden of Eden.
The pool, although tiny, is a great asset especially at the end of a very hot day. It is worth noting that you are in very close proximity to the neighbours though the young family of holiday-makers next door were very quiet and considerate.
The village of Fornelutx is delightful with a well-stocked Spar shop, an attractive square with two or three bars and an excellent choice of restaurants, serving a mix of modern Mediterranean food and traditional Mallorcan dishes. Although popular with tourists the village retains its own character and the local people are exceptionally friendly and pleasant.
Try roast suckling pig to die for at the family-run Ca'n Antuca or the paella on the rooftop terrace of the Santa Marta as the sun sets behind the mountains.
The area isn't great for beach-lovers but Port Soller has a very pleasant sandy beach though the resort is a little bland compared to the much more characterful inland town of Soller. The old trams that rattle through the central square give it a timeless charm, and the 1-hr train journey through the mountains to Palma is a "must". Some of the mountain roads are not for the faint-hearted but destinations such as Pollensa and Valldemossa make the heart-stopping hairpin bends worthwhile.
All in all we were delighted with Casa Mia and hope to return one day. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings who would surely enjoy a part of Mallorca that has not been spoilt by the worst excesses of mass tourism.
