Honey coloured houses, jagged mountains and turquoise sea. This part of Mallorca, well away from the main tourist areas will appeal to those looking for a little extra, for a quiet and peaceful relaxing holiday.
There is a train station from which the famous old rolling stock still rattles its way to Palma and back several times a day. From the station, the electric tram runs through the main square, past the market to the Port of Soller, a beautiful, almost circular, well protected bay with safe beaches. From here you can take a boat along the wild, rugged northern coast to sheltered little bays inaccessible by road. Around the bay are a good number of small restaurants and shops.
Nearby are the attractive mountain villages of Fornalutx and Biniaraix, whilst a little further along the coast is Deia, an area of musicians, painters, poets and artists who have for many years found inspiration here.
