Peaceful villa among olive groves with superb sea view

Exactly half way between Deia and Soller on Majorca's beautiful north coast, surrounded by olive and carob trees and with a panoramic view of the sea, C'an Allegre is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The house is relatively modern and simple but practical. It is divided into 2 independent levels, each of which has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with 2 singles, and a bathroom. There is a kitchen with gas cooker upstairs, and downstairs, a kitchenette suitable for breakfast preparation. Each level has a spacious terrace with sea view. The house faces WNW and, apart from 6 weeks in mid-winter, you can see the sunset over the sea. It is a 15 minute walk down to the sea, or you can walk the coast path to the secluded naturist beach at Lluch Alcari in about 1 hour. It is possible to walk to Deia or Soller by several different footpaths. The house makes an ideal base for a walking holiday, or simply a break in quiet and very beautiful surroundings.

The house is mid-way between Deia and Soller on Majorca's stunningly beautiful north coast. Most of this coast is rocky, which has saved it from the excessive development that has disfigured other parts of the island. There is lovely swimming and snorkeling from the rocks 15 minutes walk below the house, and a sandy beach at Port de Soller 7km away. Soller (5km away) is a beautiful and lively town set among orange groves. It has a daily market (in my totally unbiased opinion, Majorca has the best fresh produce in the world), a supermarket, and just about anything else you might need. A further 2km brings you to Port de Soller. The mountains of the Serra de Tramontana make superb walking country, with a network of old paths and a fascinating combination of the wild and the bucolic. The mountains themselves have a grandeur quite out of proportion to their height, and along much of the north coast they drop sheer into the sea. Keep an eye out for birds of prey.

  • Deposit of 25% required to secure booking, balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. We can accept direct bank transfers or deposits in pounds or euros.

Notes:

There are 2 flights of steps to get down from the parking space and these are unlit, so please bring a torch. The surroundings are hazardous for toddlers, as the land is terraced and there are many vertical drops of several metres. There are also 2 stone irrigation tanks (estancs) adjoining our property. These are not swimming pools as such and do not belong to us, but we swim in them. At least one of them usually has water throughout the summer, though it has a natural (green) appearance. If you have children who can't swim, you must be extremely vigilant of these estancs. This is a lovely house in a superb location. It is simple and lacks some of the facilities (e.g. pool, microwave, power shower, TV) that are now common, and this is reflected in the price.
