Pollenca Pool Villa L'Hort D' Abaix, short stroll to Pollença

Although just a 15 min walk to the centre of Old Pollença and less than 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Puerto Pollença, it is easy to imagine you are miles from anywhere! This immensely appealing villa, bedecked by bougainvillea and screened by trees and flowering shrubs, is tucked away down a narrow lane off the little road that winds its way down the exclusive Ternelles Valley with magnificent views towards the mountains to the west at first floor level. A gravelled driveway leads through wrought iron gates to a parking area and a pathway to a spacious covered terrace to the rear, with a purpose built barbecue, small porcelain sink and patio tables and chairs overlooking the 10m x 5m pool. Beyond, is a large orchard of fruit trees where you can wander at will and perhaps enjoy a juicy orange or pomegranate! The 3 bedroom villa is furnished and decorated in a charming, country cottage style with beamed ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors.

The roman bridge is evidence of Pollenças Roman origins and subsequently each generation has left its mark without overwhelming this delightful small town. Pollenca has learned to accept and adapt to tourism without losing its soul and at the vibrant Sunday morning market spilling out over the Plaça Major, locals and tourists mingle between the wide varieties of stalls. Among the narrow cobbled streets you will find lovely old churches and small art galleries and handicraft shops. Climb the Calvari steps – there are 365 of them, one for every day of the year - and be rewarded by panoramic views. During August and September Pollenca hosts its annual classical music festival and at any time of year there number of outstanding restaurants as well as small tapas bar. Outside the town the rolling countryside is excellent for walkers and for a day by the sea, Puerto Pollença with its lovely beaches, is a 5-minute drive away. Nearby there’s a good, hilly 9-hole golf course.

From the hallway, there’s a short corridor to a pretty twin bedroom with a writing desk next to a windowed alcove where you can sit and be inspired by the view and write a few postcards home. Next door is a smaller twin bedroom and then just across the hallway is the double bedroom, with a door to its own delightful terrace overlooking the pool. All the bedrooms have atmospheric sloping beamed ceilings and two have fitted wardrobes, whilst the smallest bedroom has a wardrobe in the hallway. Also off the hallway is a full bathroom plus a further guest WC with wash hand basin, to limit queues in the morning.

Inside, the property is furnished and decorated in a charming, country cottage style with beamed ceilings, terracotta-tiled floors and dark wood furniture, complimented by paintings and decorative plates on the walls. A door from the covered terrace leads into a brightly tiled kitchen with gas cooker, fridge freezer and a number of marble work surfaces, below which are plenty of fitted cupboards and drawers in a rich mahogany, as well as a good old fashioned pantry for groceries. A door from here leads into the L shaped living room with sofa, easy chairs and a coffee table grouped around the fireplace. Just around the corner from the sitting area and through a wide archway is the dining area, with table and chairs, plus an antique dresser and a convenient serving hatch to the kitchen. A tiled staircase from the lounge area leads up to a bright and spacious hallway with a door off to a lovely covered terrace with gorgeous views over the pool and towards the mountains.
