L'Hort D'Abaix, Pollenca, Mallorca:
This immensely appealing little villa, saucily bedecked by bougainvillaea and screened by trees and flowering shrubs, is tucked away down a narrow lane off the little road that winds its way down the exclusive Ternelles Valley.
From its two terraces at first floor level, there are magnificent views towards the remote mountains to the west and although you are only a 15 mins walk to Old Pollenca and less than ten minutes drive from the beaches of Puerto Pollenca, it is easy to imagine you are miles from anywhere.
A gravelled driveway leads through wrought iron gates to a parking area, and from here there's a pathway to a spacious covered terrace to the rear, with patio tables and chairs and overlooking the 10m x 5m pool. Conveniently nearby is a purpose built barbecue with a small porcelain sink, whilst beyond the pool is a large orchard of fruit trees where you can wander at will, until you find the right spot to sit in the shade and perhaps enjoy a juicy orange or pomegranate.
Inside, the property :
is furnished and decorated in a charming, country cottage style with beamed ceilings, terracotta-tiled floors and dark wood furniture, complimented by paintings and decorative plates on the walls.
A door from the covered terrace leads into a brightly tiled kitchen with gas cooker, fridge freezer and a number of marble work surfaces, below which are plenty of fitted cupboards and drawers in a rich mahogany, as well as a good old fashioned pantry for groceries.
A door from here leads into the L shaped living room with sofa, easy chairs and a coffee table grouped around the fireplace. Just around the corner from the sitting area and through a wide archway is the dining area, with table and chairs, plus an antique dresser and a convenient serving hatch to the kitchen.
tiled staircase from the lounge :
area leads up to a bright and spacious hallway with a door off to a lovely covered terrace with gorgeous views over the pool and towards the mountains. From the hallway, there's a short corridor to a pretty twin bedroom with a writing desk next to a windowed alcove where you can sit and be inspired by the view and write a few postcards home.
Next door is a smaller twin bedroom and then just across the hallway is the double bedroom, with a door to its own delightful terrace overlooking the pool. All the bedrooms have atmospheric sloping beamed ceilings and two have fitted wardrobes, whilst the smallest bedroom has a wardrobe in the hallway.
Also off the hallway is a full bathroom plus a further guest WC with wash hand basin, to limit queues in the morning.
Outside, just beyond the covered terrace to the rear, is a further WC and next door to this is a washing machine in a small cubby-hole.
There is a TV (local channels only) and DVD player.
