Eating Out:
Menorca has many waterside bars and restaurants and off the beaten track farmhouse restaurants. Fornells is famous for its fish restaurants. One of these is Es Plau often used by the king of Spain!!! Also here in a wonderful location is Ses Salinas where you dine in style on a terrace overlooking the bay of Fornells. Both Alaior and Mercadal have good bars and restaurants many serving traditional local food. A trip to the port of Mahon is a must not to be missed. There are so many good restaurants overlooking the water serving a fine selection of pasta pizza, fresh fish meat and tapas. The Golf Club has an excellent restaurant which is a short walk from the apartment where you can dine al fresco on the attractive terrace overlooking the course. Bar snacks including English breakfasts are available all day.Not to be missed is the small harbour of Calas Fonts, about half an hours drive.Here you will find restaurants and tapas bars right on the waters edge alongside local fishing boats.
Activities:
Fornells offers most water sports such as a sailing, wind surfing, water skiing, wake boarding and scuba diving. For that special day you can experience the real Menorca from a 37 foot catamaran with food and wine included or a romantic sunset cruise with sangria and tapas. The port of Mahon is three and a half kilometres long and a boat trip round the harbour is an inexpensive must. You can also experience big game fishing off the coast in a fully equipped boat or you can spend an idyllic day out on your own sea going yacht with a qualified skipper and escape to offshore islands, explore remote coves. Snorkel, swim and sunbathe. Also learn to sail at Menorca Cruising School, in their 11 metre Bavaria yachts.
Horse riding is close to Son Park with one stables 2 kilometres away and another in Alaior.For those with the correct qualifications you can charter your own boat where you can explore the hidden beaches and coves of Menorca.Don't forget the wonderful walks along ancient paths
Island information:
Shopping can be fun. The leather goods are of excellent quality and have that chic continental style. The old capital Ciutadella, approx 40 min drive from Son Park, has many elegant shops with narrow streets and a traditional central square. Mahon is a vibrant busy town with good shops with weekly open air markets.
Mahon is steeped in history having been occupied by many invaders in the last 300 years by both French and British. The port of Mahon, the second deepest natural harbour in the world, has at its entrance the ruins of major fortifications which can be viewed. Gin has been brewed here for 200 years using an old English recipe.

Golf:
The golf village has six small groups of low rise apartments. All are privately owned and therefore mass tourism does not exist here. This creates a quiet and tranquil setting. It is attractive and challenging and is much quieter than many of the mainland courses. You can enjoy a relaxing game amongst the varied wild life on the course, peacocks, goats, ducks and eagles. It is a n 18 hole par 69 with water holes and tricky sand traps. There is a floodlit driving range, practise facilities, tennis, a golf shop and a good bar and restaurant. Golf tuition is available at very reasonable rates and the driving range may well have appeal for those who find the sun a bit much in high summer. There are many competitions, all open to the public.
