This famous Spanish port is steeped with history and culture. Although much of the city has been renovated, architecture from ages gone by still mingles with the new, to form a fascinating mosaic. Life in Cartagena Spain is slow and relaxing, with many fine restaurants and bars. The Cartagena coast enjoys sailing, windsurfing and excellent diving and other watersports, and the town acts as a convenient base to explore the ancient city of Murcia.

The most famous resort in the region is the Mar Menor golf resort, (Mar Menor means ‘little sea’), the name taken from the largest salt water lagoon in Europe, on the banks of which the resort sits. The lakes temperature is on average 5°C hotter than the sea, and there is an almost constant breeze, making Mar Menor properties a favourite base for participating in watersports, such as windsurfing, kite-surfing, jetskiing and sailing. The beaches here are also particularly popular with families, due to the warm, shallow waters.

La Manga, the 24km strip of land between sea and lagoon, offers over 40km of beaches, giving a unique opportunity to choose between two separate seas, with very different temperatures, one of which is calm, and the other with waves!!!
