The ‘village’ is set in the rural outskirts of La Manga, and as a single destination, would not have a vast amount to offer visitors apart from the El Rancho de la Fuente Riding Stables, but the surrounding hills, seas and attractions of La Manga offer almost endless sport and leisure activities, including walking, cycling, horse riding trails and many more.

The resort of La Manga has a vast range of sporting facilities including three championship golf courses, a tennis academy with many courts for free play, swimming pools, squash courts, Jacuzzis and a full gym. Golfers taking holiday accommodation in El Rancho will be able to improve their game at the academy or take on one of three hugely challenging courses which surround El Rancho villas.

The Mediterranean and the Mar Menor sea are on either side of La Manga, with the landlocked lagoon of Mar Menor (little sea) being a haven for water sports and bathing, especially for young, as temperatures are always around 5˚C warmer that the Mediterranean and there are no currents. Sailing, windsurfing and water skiing are three of the most popular activities, but almost any sport you wish to try can be found within the resort, including scuba diving.

The nearby village of Cabo de Palos is a great place to go on a Sunday, as the little market is filled to bursting point with beautiful hand crafts and local produce, all at amazingly low prices; perfect for stocking up your self catering El Rancho villa of finding a few presents for those left at home in Britain.

Murcia, the provincial capital is just 70km from a property in El Rancho, and offers a very different range of activities for visitors. It is a very cultural city, boasting many fine monuments, attractions, museums and commercial shops.

El Rancho and La Manga remain open throughout the year as even during the coldest month (January), temperatures remain above 15˚C. In summer, the warm waters of the Mar Menor are lined with those catching the sun or playing in the shallow waters, as temperatures soar to an average of over 30˚C.

Murcia’s San Javier Airport (MJV) receives a huge number of daily flights from airports throughout the UK. Cheap flights can be found through both EasyJet and RyanAir, but because Murcia is such a large airport, it is worth shopping around.
