Los Alcazares, with its beautiful blue flag beaches, is situated in the Murcia region of south-eastern Spain; known as the Costa Calida (Warm Coast). The area has an average of 320 days of sunshine each year. The town sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor, a saltwater lake separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22 kilometre strip of land called La Manga. It is a very relaxed Spanish resort that really welcomes international visitors. The Mar Menor is warm and calm, ideal for children and adults alike. Sailing, kite surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving are all very popular. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants for drinks, tapas, meals & entertainment - sea food is very good here. The area is flat, so great for walking & cycling. Market days are Saturday & Tuesday, ideal for gifts, fruit & veg. The access to the roof terrace is not through the bedrooms; it is accessed through a seperate door on the landing, so that anyone staying in the house can go up onto the roof without disturbing other members of your party.

Beaches: Los Alcázares beaches hold blue flag status - they are very safe, the water is very shallow without tides or waves making it ideal for children. The beaches are cleaned daily and are maintained all year round. During the warm months there are many beach bars serve snacks & drinks along the edge of the beautiful promenade. In the winter some of these bars stay open, so you can enjoy some winter sun while looking the beautiful views across the Mar Menor. Water sports are available along the coast - wind sailing, jet skiing etc. The Mar Menor is also an excellent spot for snorkeling and scuba diving & you are only a short drive from a national underwater reserve area. If you are looking for waves then you are only a short drive from the Med - there are fantastic beaches at La Manga and the nature reserve of Calblanque. If you are looking for rocky coves then at the beginning of La Manga strip you will find Cabo de Palos - a fantastic place to try snorkeling and scuba.

Golfing: Los Alcázares is ideally placed for golf breaks. You can stay here and save on golf property prices but still have access to some of the best golf courses in the area. La Manga Golf is only 15 mins away and now within Los Alcázares itself you have two great golf courses - Roda Golf and La Serena. Within a 20 minute radius you have the well known Polaris World golf courses - the Mar Menor Resort, Hacienda Riquelme, La Torre & El Valle. Restaurants & Bars: Los Alcázares has an abundance of restaurants - a cuisine to suit every taste. A large number are walkable from the property. At the end of the road you will find 'El Patio' - well known for its delicious Spanish meals. Cross the road and you will find a lovely square and boulevard lined with places to eat. Details are included in our welcome pack and we can give you recommendations when we meet you. In high season there are bars and small restaurants dotted along the main promenade - often serving drinks till late. The atmosphere at this time of year is very relaxed with a pleasant holiday atmosphere - Los Alcázares is a very popular Spanish family holiday resort. There are a good choice of bars in Los Alcázares, all within walking distance from the apartment. From traditional Spanish, Irish, English, German - the choice is yours.

Wonderful holiday in lovely penthouse apartment

We have just returned from a weeks stay in the apartment with two of our friends. It is very spacious and bright and was spotlessly clean. The layout is superb with one double bedroom and a bathroom on the first floor and the other bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. The beds were really comfortable and the bathrooms are very well equipped. It was lovely to have our morning coffee on the balcony off our bedroom. The balcony from the lounge overlooks the lovely pool area. We ate out a lot as there are some superb restaurants very close by but we also cooked a couple of meals and found the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed.We hired a car for our stay but it is not really necessary as everthing you need is in easy walking distance, there is also a place in the shopping area accross the road where you can hire bikes. This was our third visit to the area and definately the best apartment we have stayed in. I would recommend the apartment to anyone for the standard of the accommodation and the excellent location and facilities. I must also just say the meet and greet service by the owner is great as it saves you wondering around for ages looking for the apartment!

Great Summer Holiday

We had a lovely summer holiday - we loved Los Alcazares. Lots of good restaurants and a beautiful beach. Busy at the beach, especially at the weekend but it is so long it wasn't a problem. The apartment is in a great location - you can walk everywhere. It was very clean and plenty of room. We enjoyed having the different balconies and the pool area is great. We hope to come back and we will definitely recommend it to our friends.

Apartment really lovely and clean. Pool and gardens well looked after. Everything was so close, restaurants/beach/bars/supermarket etc, definately stay in same area again. Owners very helpful, nothing too much trouble. All the restaurants were lovely, food wonderful (and we should know we tried nearly allof them!!!) If you go off the square, theres lovely spanish run bars to be found with much more reasonable drink prices!!

Would have give 5 stars but no air con and August is so hot , i think its a must have.

As Helen and John pointed out there are lots of great restaurants and bars in Los Alcazares, all within walking distance of our apartment.

In the apartment we do suggest keeping the south facing window blinds lowered in the daytime during hotter days. You find it keeps the sun out - then the rooms are much cooler for the evening. We have ceiling fans in every room which we highly recommend you use to keep you cool and comfortable (we use these in our own home.)

The house was very spacious, clean and as described.

Everything you would need including cooler box and ice packs.

Plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 teenagers, close to the beach, shops, restaurants and bar, a fair walk to the go carts but worth the walk.

The pool was better than expected and very clean.

The owners very helpful, bought groceries as requested, collected us in the middle of the night from the airport due to delay and took us back.

Would go back again in the cooler months as weather very hot and no airconditioning, which meant it was a bit unfortable at night.

Holiday stay in July 09

We have just returned from a week in the apartment with our 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter, the holiday was really relaxing and enjoyable. The apartment is excellently fitted out and has everything that you need and is close to the beach, supermarket and some excellent restaurants. The resort itself is very nice and more on the up market side than some of the spanish holiday resorts.

Overall the holiday was great, we went for a relaxing week and thats what we had. I'd love to go back when the weather was a little cooler and explore the surrounding areas as there is plenty to do for all ages but in July it was just too hot to do this.
