Beaches & Markets :
There are many glorious beaches along the Mar Menor, the regions top attractions, all are easily reached by car. The safe warm water of the Mar Menor, which is rich in minerals is a paradise for bathers and water enthusiasts alike...also it's health giving properties are a bonus for sufferers of arthritis etc. The town of Los Alcazeres still has thermal baths, which have been there from Roman times! Los Alcazares holds two weekly street markets, selling various products such as clothing and fresh food.. It also hosts several festivals, including the international celebration of La Huerta. Throughout the last two weeks in August, groups representing market garden areas throughout Spain and other European countries gather to display their folklore, handicrafts and prepare gastronomic feasts from their local produce.
Golf Information :
The Mar Menor Golf Resort is the first out of four Polaris World Resorts to be completed in this 'golfer’s paradise'. It is set in Murcia, one of the richest provinces of Spain. The course was opened for play June 2005. It is a private course only available to people staying on the resort and owners. This 'private & exclusive' golf course at present is 9 holes, but will be extended to 18 holes in the very near future. . The course was designed by Dave Thomas, The back nine holes to be ready for 2006 have been designed by Jack Nicklaus, as have all the other Polaris World golf courses in the area (due to open from 2006 onwards) once all four courses are completed owners & their 'guests' will be able to play on all the Resort courses and have use of all facilities. The golf courses at La Manga Club, Villamartin, golf Altorreal, golf Campoamor or golf Las Ramblas are open to all enthusiastic golfers as well.
