"Mi Refugio" (My shelter) is the ideal self-catering base for a small family or group (4+2) that wants to experience the real Spain but with home facilities like English/German TV, DVD and films, and a restaurant really close. The Villa offers a secure garden with a climbing frame. The exclusive Mazarron Country Club where it is based offers a range of sports on site and pool-side tapas. Nearby, there are great golf courses (La Manga) and open country horse-riding. Puerto de Mazarron, the nearest town to the the villa, offers a wide range of wonderful authentic Spanish restaurants, unspoilt beach-side strolls on warm, balmy evenings, plus a wide range of summer and water sports for the more adventurous. Camposol golf is just five minutes’ away, while the world-famous La Manga is just 50 mins’ drive away on the Mar Menor. Accessible from Alicante and the more developed Costa Blanca to the north east - where you can find water parks – the Costa Calida area includes the Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt water lagoon, with over 170 square kilometres of shallow water. Michael Cross, Glasgow, July 2005: I think this part of the Spanish coastline is the most beautiful I've visited in many trips to the country. In many ways, it reminded me of what the country was like 35 years ago; the towns we saw were all charming, the people warm and generous, and the beaches spectacular. In addition, the facilities at the MCC were a tempting alternative.
