10% DISCOUNT FOR COUPLES. This spacious and modern 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom property is situated at the edge of Estrella de Mar with views over the Mar Menor and surrounding countryside. The villa is very well appointed internally and has an attractive patio garden and balcony. The beach is only a minutes walk (100m) away and there are 4 restaurants in this small and quiet village. The beach club (for use by residents & guests) has a large swimming pool, tennis courts, table tennis and a multi sport area. There are a number of golf courses within easy reach. We run a watersports company offering dinghy sailing, windsurfing and kayaking within 10 mins drive. Estrella de Mar is set in a rural location and surrounded by farmland and open countryside it is beautifully laid out with parks and gardens, wide streets and typical Spanish architecture. No building stands more than two stories high. The palm-lined promenade with views across the Mar Menor to La Manga makes a lovely walk.

The neighbouring village of Los Urrutias is only 5min walk away and has a supermarket, hardware shop, newsagent and a number of cafes and restaurants. The Mar Menor is a huge salt-water lagoon, the ideal location for all types of watersports and very safe for swimming. Its calm shallow waters are warm all year round and shelve very gently so it is ideal for small children. Notes: Originally 3 bedrooms, the downstairs bedroom has been knocked through and is now the dining area within the large open plan living space. The dining area has an extendable table with seating for 6. Outside in the attractively planted patio garden has a traditional tiled table and seating, plus sun looungers. There is also a table and chairs on the balcony. The property is wheelchair accessible except for single step at front door, double sofa bed is on ground floor. Estrella de Mar and the surrounding area is flat so the walk to the beach, the promenade and the restaurants are all on the level. Welcome packs, baby cots and highchairs are available locally from our agents, prebooking required. Our neigbour provides airport transfers and can also drive you to places of local interest, therefore a car is not essential. Buses are available from Los Urrutias and you can go by train to Cartagena from Los Nietos (5 mins by car)

Airports: Murcia airport (MJV) is only 15 minutes away and Alicante (ALC) airport is 1 hour. Both airports are served by both low cost and full service airlines making it easy for you to get here from your local airport. BA fly from Gatwick, Flybe from Southampton,Exeter, Norwich,Birmingham. Ryanair from Luton, Prestwick, East Midlands, Standstead, Liverpool and Dublin. EasyJet from East Midlands, Liverpool, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Newcastle, Belfast and Bristol. BMIbabay from Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, East Midlands and Durham. Monarch from Brimingham, Gatwick and Luton. Jet2 from Leeds and Manchester. My travel lite from Birmingham. Car rental is recommended to make the most of the area, however airport transfers can be arranged if you prefer not to drive.

Activities: We run a sailing, windsurfing and kayaking centre on the Mar Menor. Suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Please see our website for further details. Information on various activities is available at the villa, including where to practice and hire equipment for windsurfing, kite surfing, dinghy and catamaran sailing, horse riding, mountain biking, quad bikes, tennis, diving. Places to visit: The small Spanish town of LOS URRUTIAS is a short walk (3 minutes) away. It has a grocery store, marina, local shops and a market on Thursday mornings. A 5km drive takes you to LOS ALCAZARES, an old fishing town that has grown into a popular resort. Excellent shallow sandy beaches particularly safe for children as there are no tides or currents in the Mar Menor lagoon. Also come here for shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars. CALBLANQUE Natural Park (12km) is a remote area of gorgeous sandy beaches backed by rocky hills accessible only by a dirt track. Well worth discovering!! CABO DE PALOS (12 km) has a lighthouse and a lovely old harbour well known for its fish restaurants The old Moorish cities of CARTAGENA (20km) and MURCIA (30km) are an excellent day trip for their shops, architecture and history (Roman ruins in Cartagena). LA MANGA DEL MAR MENOR (15km) is the place to go for nightlife, shopping, water activities and great beaches.

Golf: The La Manga Club, famous for its sporting facilities, is just 10km away. 3 top class 18 hole golf courses, a football centre that attracts premiership teams for winter training, tennis centre, mountain bike hire, hotel and spa. There are 7 golf courses within a 30 minute drive to cater for all handicap levels and more being constructed.

This is indeed a perfect holiday home. We were provided with all our needs especially as our granddaughter, 1 year old, accompanied us. The owners provided us with excellent service in the way of helping us to locate car hire and baby equipment. The property was cleaned every week, with clean linen/towels also being provided. The journey planner from the airport (Murcia) was spot on!

However, the restaurants were few but the one we visited at the end of the road from the villa provided us with excellent food and a very friendly service. Providing for the baby was no problem. The area is very quiet just perfect for listening to the crickets of an evening whilst sipping a glass of wine!

The beaches along the coast were indeed very safe for our granddaughter, exactly as the owners had informed us.

A very pleasant stay, villa very comfortable and clean however a TV would of been a plus. Disappointed with the beach as very muddy and a digger was on it daily. A car is a must to appreciate the surrounding areas and beaches.
Overall a lovely holiday which we enjoyed very much and would recommend to others.
Owner's Response: We have now installed satellite TV at the house which includes channels in English, Spanish, German and French (July 3 2009).

I have been investigating to find out why diggers were on the beach as this is not normal (tractor type beach groomers are normal as they clean the sand). Apparently due to the unusually high rainfall during the winter some of the sand on the beach was washed away - the diggers were there to dump some new sand on the beach. Also the shoreline was muddy for the same reason so the diggers were levelling the shoreline. I'm sorry this disturbed you, however very glad they are working to improve our beach!

our holiday

we were picked up from Mercia airport by Martin who drove us to the villa {15 mins}. the villa was well equiped with everything you would need for the duration of our stay and the front garden was ideal for relaxing at night with a glass of wine.
the surrounding area was lovely and the beach,communal gardens,pool was very accessible.
we had 3 adults {one wheelchair} and a 2 year old in our group,who enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.the resturants were limited......but the tapas bar {3 mins away} was execellent and had many dishes on the menu!
the pool bar was also great.
the only problem was the bathroom door frame were not wide enough for my husbands wheelchair { he was able to manage as he can still walk a little } so i would make it clear to fellow travellers that wheelchair access is limited.
finally i will be recommend you guys to family and friends as we had a great time and will be returning for a winter break!!
