Orgiva holiday cottage

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We have just spent the perfect late-October week family holiday with our 2 boys of 6 and 8 - had a proper chill out and unwind. Spent a little time exploring nearby mountain villages and Grenada, but best bit was knocking around the casita: playing by/in pool, enjoying tranquil views, weather consistently 20-25C (typical for that time of year I gather). Owners are great - really helpful and very friendly. Check out their restaurant, El Limonero, in the village - top quality. Here you will find everything one could possibly hope for in a holiday, but which is rarely expected!

La Higeura had everything we needed for a superb holiday. The cottage is situated on a small cortijo about 15 mins walk from Orgiva which has all services and a lot of cosmopolitan interest. The owners, Wes and Amanda Somerville live on site and couldn't have been more helpful; the welcome pack was especially appreciated after our long journey. We enjoyed the private patio and the peace of the cortijo surrounded by olive trees and tremendous views of the mountains. The property catches the sun all year and has a wood-burning stove for the cooler times and is equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The walking and cycling in the surrounding mountains was superb and the Alpujarra villages have to be seen to be believed. This was our fifth, late autumn, visit to southern Spain in six years and definitely one of the best. The November weather was just right, not cold but not too hot either; just right for walking and cycling. We were very comfortable at La Higuera and have come home with fond memories of a brilliant holiday.
