Old stone farmhouse, cool in summer, warm in winter. Fans available in summer, logs included in winter. Beautiful gardens , terraced pool (10m x5m) with old olive trees close by to provide shade in summer. Plenty of loungers and hammocks in the shade. Pick an orange or other fruits straight off the trees in the garden. Patios and terraces shaded by citrus and olive trees, BBQ area. Registered with Turismo Rural Andalucia

Las Alpujarras: In the foothills of Sierra Nevada, Tijola is 5kms from Orgiva. The area recently made famous by Chris Stewart in his books 'Driving over lemons' and 'A parrot in the pepper tree' The sun shine averages 325 days a year, and in spring the mountains are a riot of flowers and herbs and their perfume fills the air.

Things to do: Wonderful country for walking, horse riding (from a couple of hours to a week long trek), paragliding, canyoning, mountain biking, birdwatching, or doing nothing but chilling out by the pool with a glass of something cold! There is a golf course, next to the beach at Motril, 30 minutes away. Granada, with the world famous Alhambra palace and gardens are only 40 minutes drive.

General: English owners live permanently on site maintaining it to a high standard. English, Spanish, German and a little French are spoken.

We visited in September this year for 2 weeks, Val and John are the perfect hosts, they have a lovely home and their happiness there and with each other is evident in everything they do.
The accommodation is clean and well equiped the pool is lovely, the views are stunning. My husband played Golf, I did a bit of horse riding and we came away very relaxed and refreshed.
I would reccommend this place to anyone wishing to get away from it all but still be in striking distance of local amenities.

Marvelous Experience

We stayed in El Sol for a week. John and Val were exquisite hosts. The surrounding villages were wonderful, the hams, the wine and the people –spectacular! We visited the coast, experienced the Alhambra, took walks amongst the various ruins, but the most unforgettable event was the flooding of the fields dating back to the time of the Moors. Thank you!
