Superb!

You are always slightly nervous when arriving at accommodation abroad, booked via the internet on the basis of a few photographs and the reviews of people you don't know. We needn't have been anxious! Casa Pepe Rosa was exactly as described, set in beautiful grounds, full of fruit trees and vines which provided us with all the fruit and nuts we required during our week long stay. We usually spend our holidays driving around the country, religiously visiting the sights recommended by the 'Rough Guide', but this house with its own pool was so wonderful that we were reluctant to drag ourselves away from it. We did have a couple of trips to some local beaches which though pebbly, were long, deserted and very clean and a day in Granada, climbing the Sierra Nervada and doing the sights. For the most part however, we read our books by the pool, interrupted only by 'Missy', Jack and Sheila's lovely mad puppy, and roused ourselves only to go out to local eateries, many of which were in walking distance. Our favourite was a restaurant on the coast at Salobrena where we ate fresh sardines cooked on a boat in front of us while we drank Rioja!
Our hosts, Jack and Sheila couldn't have been more kind or generous. They had ensured that we had everything that we could possibly need, going as far as to fill the fridge with milk, beer and a bottle of wine which was very welcome as we arrived late at night. They were an excellent source of local knowledge and advice, and provided us with a Spanish dictionary, toilet paper and anything else that we happened to be short of at any time! They helped make the week a real holiday and we are already looking forward to a return visit.
