This charming and comfortable house has the most perfect location in Lanjaron in the Alpujarras, Granada - a quintessentially Spanish, no-through-traffic, sleepy plant-filled plaza (parking nearby). From the balcony, one can hear birdsong and the splashing of the water in the grotto-like fountain below and from the sunny terrace, enjoy the mountain and sea views. Both pretty bedrooms have comfortable double beds. In the spacious yet cosy living room, with its pretty 'pueblo' fireplace, one can watch English language satellite TV. The state-of-the-art bathroom offers a hydro-massage shower unit. The modern though rustic style fitted chestnut kitchen has a four ring hob, stainless steel fridge freezer and is fully equipped. Breakfast or the evening meal can be had on the roof terrace, while enjoying the views. The house is distinguished by its successful fusion of stylish design and sympathetic restoration of traditional architecture, with tasteful attention to detail and colour.

Notes: The kitchen is modern with all the mod cons - toaster, a juicer, coffee grinder, a sandwich maker, a kettle and a variety of good quality cooking pots and pans etc. There is also an iron and ironing board available plus a 'fold up' clothesline. The cooker has 4 rings plus a good sized oven as well as fan extractor over the cooker with plenty of lighting and space for cooking and preparation. The house has 2 gas heaters available. The sitting room has an open fireplace ('pueblo' style) and plenty of comfortable seating and lighting.

The village boasts an Olympic-size municipal swimming pool with a bar, close by. There are also tennis courts and, in the season, plenty of night-life and bustling cafes in the centre shaded by magnificent ancient plane trees. At ones doorstep, you have easy access to wonderful countryside and spectacular walks. Should you want to treat yourself, the nearby historic Balneario offers a range of spa treatments and massage. For those without a hired car, Lanjaron has daily bus services to the coast and to Granada (only 35 k away) and a taxi service is also available. The nearest golf course is only 25 minutes away on the road to Granada. There is also one in Motril. INTERNET ACCESS: There is an internet cafe just 3 minutes walk from the house which is open every evening from 6pm onwards.

The owners are long term residents who are very happy to assist in any way possible. We personally meet our guests on arrival to hand over the keys and answer any initial queries/questions.

Beautiful house in a lovely area

Our stay in Lanjaron was wonderful. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Mary who was both informative, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The house itself was delightful, comfortable and with everything you needed to enjoy a week or two of holiday. The roof terrace was a perfect setting to soak up the sun during the day or enjoy a barbeque at night.

The little square on which the house is located is undoubtably the most beautiful in the village and well located for the shops, swimming pools and cafes. The village was very pretty and within easy driving distance of both the coast and Granada and the spectacular Alhambra.

We would highly recommmend this house, it's host and the area to anyone- indeed a few people we have told about it are already thinking about a trip- and we ourselves intend to return as soon as holidays allow.

Our first visit to Andalusia from Devon

We have visited Spain for many years but have never visited Andalusia before. We wanted to stay somewhere central for visiting the Alpajarras, The Alhambra, Granada and possibly the coast. Lanjaron was an excellent location for all of these. Our first impression of Lanjaron was of a very plain looking town but once getting to know it with it's friendly people, stunning views and great walks in every direction it has become a very magical place to us.
Our host Mary made us feel immediately like an old friend rather than a guest and gave very useful local information. The town house was great, very clean, in a quiet plaza with many lovely flowers. We also found it to be very well equipted and there were some nice extra touches to make one feel very at home.
The only difficulty is you may not want to leave.

We stayed a week at the house and found it idyllic and full of Spanish character, overlooking a plant filled plaza. The property is well maintained, clean, quiet and centrally located in the town. Mary the owner is extremely helpful. Easy walking distance to all amenities. Access to the sun terrace is well worth the effort of climbing the stairs to absorb the tranquility and wonderful views of the mountain range in the distance.The town of Lanjaron is very Spanish and makes a refreshing change from the coastal areas. Free tapas with every drink is still the custom.Within easy reach is Granada, Sierra Nevada and a host of picturesque whitewashed villages situated amongst superb scenery. If you fancy pony trekking we can recommend Caballo Blanco situated in Lanjaron. Car hire recommended.
Finally, we would like to thank you Mary, for allowing us to rent your property, we fell in love with Lanjaron and will be returning again this year.
