Malaga is less than a two hour drive also Almeria can be considered as a second airport option at two hours also. No-frills airlines are now using this airport, Ryanair are also flying to Granada which is an hour away!.The coast at Motril and the beach at Salobrena are a 35 minute drive and skiing at Sol y Nueve is less that 1 ½ hours in the Sierra Nevada.
The cortijo is a 15 mins walk or 5 mins drive to Orgiva main market town of Las Alpujarras. Granada and Alhambra Palaces, Sierra Nevada ski slopes and national park 45 mins drive. Unspoilt fabulous mountain villages Bubion, Capileira and Pampaneira 30 mins. Orgiva is a great centre from which to explore the higher Alpujarras Sierra Nevada country park and Panpaneira, Boubion & Capileira are the three of the prettiest villages located next to each other in the high Las Alpujarras.
