Capellania is an outstanding, huge, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, luxury villa - entirely private and not overlooked; a private, filtered, 9m x 5m pool for sole use of visitors, satellite TV and broadband, air conditioning. Romantic setting with spectacular mountain views at the very edge of town. Hidden behind its large, landscaped, walled-in garden full of exotic fruit trees, yet just 300 meters to the centre of Orgiva, a bustling market town, Capellania is also a home to tortoises and gold fish. Entirely modern and tastefully furnished, the villa has the ambiance of a Moorish-inspired romantic folly, with its circular library, sweeping marble staircase, stained-glass windows and a domed bathroom with a large oval marble bath that cries out to be shared. A spacious dining room through a colonnaded circular hallway flows into a large living room with comfortable sunken seating area round the wood-burning cast iron stove, as well as the TV viewing area.

Notes: There is ample parking directly outside, and it is possible to walk up to the house on level ground, so the elderly can also enjoy a stay in the house. Outside, there is a barbecue, two separate dining areas, six loungers and a double rocking chair. The pool has underwater lighting, which adds romance to those midnight dips. The house is surrounded on all sides by a large well-kept landscaped garden, with stone steps leading from one level to another, some passages shaded by canopies of vine. From the road, the house is almost invisible behind its spectacular and colourful range of tropical vegetation such as cypresses, jacaranda, bougainvillea, ancient olives, oranges, lemons, avocados, figs and even ginkgo biloba. A large terracotta-paved terrace shaded by a camellia tree and bordered by walled ponds with gold fish and water lillies is the setting for al fresco dining. A full size table tennis table and a mini billiards/table football table. Kitchen: 4 gas + 2 electric rings.

The Perfect Get Away from it all!

cahouette Switzerland
Review Submitted: August 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We are a family of 5 from Switzerland with 2 teenage boys. We loved Capellania as for us it really was the perfect 'get-away-from-it-all' holiday home we were looking for...Surrounded by spectacular views, it is secluded and very quiet. However, as it is situated whithin easy walking distance from Orgiva, our teenage boys would regularly take off into town to rent a DVD or buy an ice cream... Our eleven year-old daughter LOVED the tortoises and would happily feed them salad every morning!!There is plenty to do in the area and we particularly enjoyed a spectacular horse ride in the nearby Alpurraja mountains. The sea is easily accessible when you get the energy to drag yourself away from Capellania's beautiful gardens and pool side..Carmen is very quick to help if need be! I would not hesitate to recommend Capellania to our friends and Family. Thank you Anda - we'll be back!!!

PERFECTION!

Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just returned from this beautiful house, myself, my husband and teenage daughter. We badly needed a completely relaxing break and we certainly got that. We didn't really do much as we found it hard to drag ourselves away from the house and pool. The location was perfect and it was so convenient to just stroll in to the village. The house was clean and absolutely huge. We kept taking wrong turns and getting lost. I adored the spiral staircase and the circular library. I would absolutely recommend this property. There were numerous places to eat and the views were amazing. The pool area was completely secluded and, lying poolside with a good book, listening to the church bells and the horses whinnying was pure bliss. Orgiva itself, although small, grew on us and there were several supermarkets in the town. Eating out was very cheap.El Limonero was a firm favourite, as was Baraka (huge portions!). We loved the tapas in the bars and tried to find ones that were not so populated by tourists. We even found a great Chinese. The church was beautiful too. It was very useful having 2 internet cafes and the market was interesting. An absolute joy. Thank you, Anda.

Capellania Review

Malcolm & Penny Tenterden
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We have just returned after spending three lovely weeks at Capellania . The house is large with pool area, large rear courtyard and extended garden. Family and friends joined us for part of the time but the house is so big that we all had plenty of personal space and privacy. It is just a short walk to the town and excellent market (On Thursday). It is very peaceful at the house day and night. We made good use of the swimming pool, table tennis and table football. After all the activity we ate either by the pool or on the roof terrace. The views from the upstairs terrace are fantastic. We became quite attached to the tortoises after feeding them for three weeks. The pool is deep and the wall around the roof terrace is quite low so young children will need to be supervised at all times. However the rest of the gardens are very child friendly and fun to explore. The only thing we would add is a sharp vegetable preparation knife in the kitchen and a towel hook in the cloakroom. It is on the top of our list of places to return to.
Owner's Response: A sharp knife and a towel hook - sure! No sooner said than done! But had the visitors mentioned this on Day One, Carmen would have gladly bought the extra knife and fixed the hook straight away...

Our holiday in Orgiva

Jules & Co Knaresborough, North Yorkshire
Review Submitted: November 15, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
This is an ideal villa if you want to get away from it all. It is in a very secluded and private plot with wonderful views of the mountains. The villa is a most unusual property - very large and full of character and there are plenty of gardens and terraces to relax in. The pool area is very inviting and our holiday was extremely pleasant and relaxing. We had 3 teenagers with us and they thoroughly enjoyed exploring the gardens and lounging round the pool but a week was really enough for them as there is very little to do in the nearby village. The villa is looked after by Carmen who we found very helpful and who called at the villa 3 times during the week we were there to check everything was O.K. She met us in the village on arrival and led us in her car to the villa which is essential as it is situated up a very narrow track. The villa was clean and tidy but it would have been nice to have had a few food essentials left in the fridge as we arrived late Saturday evening starving and the local town was completely shut for the whole of Sunday. We had to spend the entire Sunday travelling in the car to find any shop where we could buy some food! There were several bars and restaurants in the nearby town but very little else of interest. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a very quiet and relaxing holiday in a unique and unusual property. I would also mention that we enjoyed looking after the family of tortoises which live in the garden and would come out for an hour or so each morning to be fed. A very different villa experience!

Capellania Review

TG1976 Derby, UK
Review Submitted: May 20, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
I recently stayed at the villa with my husband, 10month old and two friends. The villa was perfect for us, nice and spacious (indoors and out) so we were all able to do our own thing and have our own space when needed. The views from the roof terrace are stunning, the pool is an ideal size (quite deep though so ensure you have floats for the children) and you have all the facilities you need inc: washing machine, microwave, BBQ, sat tv, a small library, table tennis etc. Everything was clean and the house tidy, I would definitely recommend it as a place for a get away from it and chill out type of holiday!

We didn't really look into what was available to do in the local town (which is quite small) but there were some cafes and shops to mooch around. Within 40mins is the sea and beach as well as the beautiful white villages.
Owner's Response: Great! I hope your table tennis is now up to competition levels!

About the library: it is getting bigger and bigger, thanks also to all you lovely visitors, who contribute your already-have-reads. Feel free to swap!
